Those that have been reading my posts for the past 6/7 years will know that I need to see and be in the sunshine. And so after spending last winter in a very cold and humid apartment, I decided to splash a little more cash each month and moved - to an apartment full of sunshine and with this view!
Last Winter
I'd moved from the Finca, where I'd spent the tail end of last summer, into a friend of a friends apartment close to my mum's on the east side of the island. The rent was 700 euros, and although there was no lift for the 63 stairs, the place seemed alright and I horridly signed for the place for 6 months.
Cue winter, which isn't really anything like the UK or Finland's winter, and I was freezing. The apartment didn't get much of the low sunlight and quickly got damp - and stayed that way until I moved out. I was sliding on the 'wood' foor, constantly cleaning mould off the walls of every room bar the kitchen, and really struggling to sleep even with layers of covers and clothes.
And the home 'office' was not really as I imagined, as I spent much of those six months layered up between 2 electric heaters, wearing fingerless gloves. It was February when 'fuck this' was muttered and I opened Idealista (Property finder) to look for a new place. I went for the 'draw a map' option and drew around the southwest coast of the Island.

April Fools
It was the first of April when moved - two car loads, excluding some gym gear and that fateful mattress. I wonder if I'll need trips next time I move, if I move.
You know, I didn't even take a photo worth showing you from my previous place, here's the first one from the new gaff....

Whilst I'm not on the front line, the green roof below is likely going to remain a roof for the foreseeable future and so the view should remain as is. What's been cool about this roof is that the owner of the restaurant underneath uses the space to grow vegetables. From what I've seen, he's had a really good summer and has likely been selling these homegrown veggies.

The longest Summer
Last year was a good year for the weather in Mallorca.
Summer 2023, which ends on Saturday (23rd September), has been the third hottest on record in Mallorca and the Balearics after the summers of 2003 and 2022. source
I'd moved to the right place to catch this bumper year of Sunshine, and enjoy a few of these :)

The balcony faces East and during the winter months the sun rises over the sea.
The sun also stays quite low during the winter, shining sunlight into my place. And in the summer, when you don't want the sunshine on you at all, it's high up in the sky and away from my balcony and windows.

And every day really since I moved here. I've already asked to stay for another year, and I think I'd like to buy the place. That's not going to happen just yet though and I think that I will require good fortune in another crypto bull-run to get the deposit I want to put down in place.

It's neat but not large - not what's important to me though!

There are some right shady ones but not so much unless you have no money!

Although on the plus side the office moved to a riverside new swanky place and it's quite pleasant when we do have to go in a day a week.

Looks great mate, sounds like you made a good move, I am a 10 min drive from the beach and didn't want to live on the esplanade because of all the sand and dust gets blown in and covers everything
The move over here at the end of 2015 really saved my mental health, and I'm really grateful to be out of the UK and in the sunshine again.
Sand and dust with electronics around is a big no-no! Luckily I don't seem to get much wind directly off the sea and sand.

Much the same! More boats and a few more people but it never really looks busy on the beach.
Tinder happens. I live and work alone and so it's a good way to meet people!
I don't have spare cards at the moment as I'm still sorting and leveling up to put on land. It's a very long, slow process. And, as you know, I'm the world's best hodler. But if I start selling I'll let you know :-)

One 3 week stay, based in the old city, in Palma, not far from the Plaça Major. Yes, a whizz through Magaluf, but mostly off the beaten track. It was a gazillion years ago (before mobile phone cameras...), so I am sure a lot has changed... or not... lol!
Wow, that view! Your photos can even be used on a postcard [are postcards still a thing?]. I really like the different colors of the sky you get to see. That awesome blue and white, that bright yet serene yellow, and that marvelous red-orange. The clouds make it look even more beautiful like a painting, with its own special effects. From how you described the old place, this is definitely so much better than where you stayed before. I'm happy you get to live in such a lovely place.

Moldy apartments are the worst.
I just moved out of an apartment myself that wasn't moldy but suffocating me nevertheless and I slept poorly there for almost a year, due to noise and an unhealthy indoor climate. Just moved house again ( see my latest post ) or am actually still in the process, for the umptieth time in the last 5 to 6 years, as I don't like to stay stuck and keep following my intuition.
Hope to own a seaside apartment myself, one day, but for now the Portuguese countryside will have to make do ;^)
The Portuguese countryside doesn't sound so bad, although potentially a bit chilly this time of year?
I counted that I've moved 12 times in 7 years, probably discounting a few moves/short stays with friends. It's tiring, but if you aren't settled and can do it, why not? :)

A small island, full of bird shit, and birds. I've paddled around it a few times but unless you are into shit or seabirds there's not much else to see.

Change of environment is an good thing, the atmosphere is so sweet, look at how amazing the sky is, very beautiful. The view of the sun set and sun rise is so cool.

Now this is magical!!! I love this place so so much and the view is super great!
I like the spot, it was perfect to chill and relax in front of the beach while enjoying the sunrise and sunset.
And having a good time eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner it's a plus plus that makes you full.
