As you can see, the ripe fruit is a yellowish green. This is a huge aid in the birds leaving this particular variety of fig alone! The birds literally eat from the other fruit trees instead. I had much better experiences with the green ones, too. Apparently they are not very 'hip' tho - where I live most people grow the purple ones.

aloha dear sister! :)) that is such a good question...thank you! different types of figs have slightly different tastes...but the overall experience is similar. their texture is squishy and almost creamy to me. they are sweet but not as sweet as some fruits like mango...and not as watery as mango. in the middle are very tiny seeds that crunch and add to the overall texture. i like them a lot...but not as much as fruits like peaches. :))

I've never been a big fan of figs. I do like the fig newton snack cookies, but figs themselves aren't that appealing, heh.. Great shot and I hope you enjoy them. Happy Friday.
lol...i feel ya. i loved fig newtons...as a kid! they aren't my favorite fruit by far....but i can appreciate parts of them. the seeds especially....are so tiny and crunchy goooood!
