Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar, granulated 1/4 cup of water
  • One tablespoon vinegar
  • Nonstick spray or cooking oil
  • Optional: flavour extracts and food colouring (such as vanilla or strawberry)

Instructions:

  1. Lightly spray cooking oil or non-stick spray on a baking sheet or other flat surface to prepare it. As a result, the candy won't stick.
  2. Combine the water and granulated sugar in a medium saucepan. Gently stir the mixture until most of the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil in the saucepan over medium heat. To keep an eye on the temperature, fasten a candy thermometer to the pan's side.
  4. Permit the mixture to boil until the candy thermometer reads "hard crack." The temperature needed to reach this stage is about 300°F (149°C). Don't burn the mixture; if necessary, reduce the heat.
  5. When the mixture reaches the desired temperature, turn off the stove and add the vinegar. Be careful because the mixture will begin to bubble.
  6. This is the time to flavour or colour your Dalgona candy, if you want to. Stir the mixture well after adding a few drops of the flavour and food colouring of your choice.
  7. Carefully pour the hot candy mixture onto the flat surface or prepared baking sheet. To spread the mixture into a thin layer, tilt the surface just a little. Let it harden and completely cool.
  8. After the Dalgona candy has dried, you can break it into little pieces or cut out fun shapes with cookie cutters.
  9. To keep the Dalgona candy fresh, store it in an airtight container.

The homemade Dalgona candy is delicious! Always exercise caution when handling hot sugar syrup to avoid severe burns.
