Autocar.co.uk describes the new Audi A6 Avant E-tron, which is the electric equivalent of the popular mid-upper class car. The car is expected to be based on the PPE platform, co-developed with Porsche, and will offer up to 435 miles of range (~700 km), 800V charging and over 600 hp of power in the RS version.

The spy photos show a new direction in Audi's design, which is supposed to be simpler and more elegant. The A6 Avant E-tron is expected to be one of the first models to introduce it, followed by the new A4, A7 and A8 versions.

Audi wants to continue its long tradition of creating sporty and emotional station wagons, despite the declining demand for low-cost family cars. Audi says the Avants are highly desirable and have a lot of potential in the electric segment.
