Hope you're all having a Happy Caturday! We are finally getting some warmer weather here and it's not getting dark before dinnertime. It's nice to be able to go to work when it's light outside. None of us in this household are morning people. Elle AKA Crypticat loves lounging period.
She goes from the chair, to the couch to the rug, to the food bowl- What a life! Our cats are most active in the earlier part of the day and right around bedtime. While it's cold they like to cozy up to things a little more. We keep the house at about 20 during the daytime which is perfect for furry critters.
The Coon is far more active. This photo was taken on the first day of the winter before the grass was swapped for berries in the vase. We added an accent chair and just need some wall art to finish the living room. Art is never something to be rushed and we're looking for inspiration.
Spot the cat. It drives us nuts when she goes here. The mantle is about a four and a half foot jump followed by a squeeze through the blinds. She makes a mess. We had to use double sided tape on everything as she's not the most graceful of cats.
How can this possibly be comfortable? It's almost a daily activity for her to go here and a daily activity for use to clean up after her.
Crypticat is an angel in comparison, jumping up to the chair is good enough for her. Can you tell we gave her a little bit of a buzz cut?
Trimming her fur keeps it free of knots and keeps the fur balls down. We didn't go too short so she wouldn't be cold but the fur is so thick, that's almost impossible. We have to cover the furniture so they don't destroy it, there is no winning with such cats.
They sometimes watch me work from the stairs. More likely they haven't been fed yet. Elle is with her favorite toy and the Coon put herself up on a pedestal.
This was the chair box we made a throne from for the cats which they enjoyed for about a month before it was time to recycle it. The cat throne apparently didn't go with the decor.
We put cats under the Christmas tree instead of gifts. The chair was one gift, an electric fireplace was another. Normally we go travelling instead of wasting money on gifts but this was the first winter in a long time we stayed home. Our last trip was to Aruba and Curaçao at the end of last fall.
We did however get the cats a tunnel as a present, they use it on a daily. The tunnel is more visually appealing than the cat throne ever was.
Cats don't even need much to be entertained or cozy. The area rug, I mean large scratching mat is just fine.
Here they are together again, just enjoying the afternoon when I happened to disturb them with a photo session. Only the best cat snaps make it into the monthly Caturday post.
As I was writing this I thought to squeeze one more photo in. One goes to make some tea and look what happens. The laptop is always a perfectly warm place to sit. Gotta lock that screen or one day shes going to write an incomprehensible message to someone.
This is the Coon caught in the moment. Both our cats hate the magpies and will chatter at them while going nuts. The magpies purposefully tease the cats and caw at them. With Spring rapidly approaching maybe this will be the year when the cats finally win and show the magpies who is boss.
