Update on that New Curation System No.2

in #curation6 years ago

Update on that Curation System I’ve been working on. I did some homework on the pros and cons of keeping a list of people to autoupvote (only known quality content creators and communal accounts) over manually upvoting. I’m close to finding a balance that works. I don’t want this project totally automated because that would lead to some complications related being complacent.

But I do want to reduce the amount of stress I receive when managing this account. When this project started out, we were just a few individuals trying to dream of a better curation system by supporting people that deserve it the most. We want to motivate people that do their best to post quality content instead of being complacent about using a particular tag and expect a bigger upvote heading their way.

This isn’t healthy for the platform. We were also against rewarding abusive authors that try to milk the reward pool for what it’s worth. But we needed more steem power to get things started. I personally didn’t want to creep up to any whale for support. That’s the same route people with the the mindset of being unable to do anything because of little power they have. I can agree to some degree.

Currently I chose to have this account to follow the trail known quality content curation groups and supporting antiabuse parties. This meant the account has been upvoting non-Filipino authors since the last updates and I’m seeing positive results in the long term. I can’t focus on two things at a time so one had to be let go at some point (the manual curation), at least, until I get some volunteer curators signing up for the project.

This presses the need for a change in the reward system this account originally had going.

Currently, 85% of the total liquid rewards this account earns is given back to the delegators according to the proportion of the total amount delegated. 10% goes to curators that keep the content rolling. 5% goes to community projects which have not yet been used since the time this project started.

The proposed shift in reward configuration includes removing the 10% for curator incentives. 90% of the total rewards gained by the account during payout and curation will be liquidated and distributed back to the delegators by proportion to what they delegated. And the remaining 10% will go to supporting the charity project of choice.

But that begs the question of how can the communal account grow if the SP acquired is kept being powered down? The innate stake of the communal account will also be taken into consideration when computing rewards. Any reward due in proportion to what the communal account’s SP will be used to power itself up. This keep consistent growth for the communal account.

How exactly does the account earn?

It earns through author rewards and curation rewards. But more focus is on curation rewards as this was the original purpose of the project. We only expanded the type of quality authors to be upvoted. This move lessen friction to globalization. You don’t need to be a FIlipino to appreciate this project’s worth.

Stay tuned for more updates.
