Yes, Argentina has been a mess for around 100 years. Before that it belonged to the Top 10 of countries. My conjecture is that Argentina does very well in times of sound money. That was true in the times of the gold standard, and I think that Argentina will rise again when (due to a Bitcoin standard) its corrupt government loses the privilege to print money and thereby rob its people.
Plus, Argentina has a great demography, good agriculture and energy.
