Intro
In this and some other articles I will document my pond construction. The pictures are from yesterday and today, they show the current state of affairs.
In diesem und einigen weiteren Artikeln werde ich meinen Teichbau dokumentieren. Die Bilder sind von gestern und heute, sie zeigen den aktuellen Stand der Dinge.
I've been digging down for days and have now passed the 90 cm mark. The soil was first very humus-rich, then rocky-loamy. I stored both types of soil separately next to the excavation on foil. On the side of the bucket the stony one and on the other side the hummus. I deliberately kept the side slopes very steep. The terraces are slightly sloping outwards and at different heights.
Seit Tagen grabe ich mich in die Tiefe und habe nun die 90 cm Marke überschritten. Der Boden war erst sehr humushaltig, dann steinig-lemig. Ich habe beide Erdarten getrennt neben dem Aushub auf Folien zwischengelagert. Auf der Seite des Eimers die Steinige und auf der anderen Seite den Humus. Die Seitenschrägen habe ich bewusst sehr steil gehalten. Die Terrassen sind leicht nach außen abfallend und in unterschiedlicher Höhe.
So, another few hours of work have passed and now another terrace has been created. I first built a dam from the two heaps of earth and then adapted it to the terrain with earth sloping outwards. I then leveled the dam to an accuracy of 2 cm using a hose level.
So, wieder sind ein paar Stunden Arbeit vergangen und nun ist eine weitere Terrasse entstanden. Aus den beiden Erdhaufen habe ich zuerst einen Damm aufgeschüttet und ihn dann mit Erde nach außen hin abfallend dem Gelände angepasst. Mittels Schlauchwaage habe ich dann den Damm auf 2 cm genau nivelliert.
Now the time had come to determine the dimensions for the foil. Using a cord that I had laid along the two longest sides of the site, I decided on a width of 6 meters and a length of 6.5 meters. I didn't count the hill with the later abdominal run, the small piece for it will certainly remain.
Jetzt war der Zeitpunkt gekommen um die Maße für die Folie zu bestimmen. Mittels Schnur, die ich entlang der beiden längsten Seiten dem Gelände entlang verlegt hatte, entschied ich mich für 6 Meter Breite und 6,5 Meter Länge. Den Hügel mit dem späteren Bauchlauf habe ich nicht mitgerechnet, das kleine Stück dafür wird sicherlich übrig bleiben.
The foil and the fleece have been ordered and we will continue when the delivery has arrived.
Die Folie und das Vlies ist bestellt und es geht weiter wenn die Lieferung angekommen ist.

Wow! I am waiting to see your hand made pond!! This is a lot of work. I had to hire a tractor to dig just a shallow pond for us several years ago! But it didn’t hold water in dry season!!
You have make very wisely as removed soil layer by its quality and what it belongs, waiting to see it in full function of a pond.
