There's this trend going around with these hipster-style breakfast and brunch spots. Some of them go for that traditional Japanese Kyoto vibe, with old houses converted into cafes, oozing with Kyoto charm. Then there are the ones that opt for a classical European feel, making you feel like you've stepped into a European café. And let's not forget about the ones that go all-out with the vintage American vibe, like something out of a cozy diner straight from the movies. Throw in some hearty meals and unique drinks, and you've got the attention of all those hipster types who become regulars after just one visit.

Anyway, the other day, I finally got in touch with a friend I haven't seen in ages, and I thought, "It's been too long, let's catch up over a meal". My friend strongly recommended this brunch spot he'd been dying to try, and since he took care of the tough task of picking a place, we were all set. Usually, choosing a spot for a hangout with friends can be a real mission, you know? We spend ages trying to find somewhere with decent prices, easy to get to, and that everyone's cool with. But this time, it was just me and this one friend, so we decided to keep it simple and quick.

This place was tucked away in a little alley, not the easiest to find despite having the address online. But it seemed like the owners were aware of this, so they had these big signs and a blackboard outside, making sure you knew where to go. The place was an old house converted into a café, with a really cool vintage exterior. Inside, it had this nostalgic Japanese vibe going on. We headed up to the second floor, and it was packed! We had to wait in line, which I hate, but with a friend to chat with, it wasn't too bad.

After a half-hour wait, we finally got seated. The interior was super retro, with all these things you'd see growing up, like those patterned glass windows that don't really show anything, a sight you don't see in modern homes anymore. The ceiling showed the skeleton of the old house, and all those untouched old structures gave the place such character. They had these old-school sofas with little tables and lamps, wooden tables with benches, and even a single sofa tucked away in a corner by the stairs.

The menu had everything from Japanese-style burgers to beef cutlet rice bowls, along with Western dishes like French toast, desserts, and fruit teas. My friend recommended their Japanese-style burger, and he got one too. I went for their tofu burger, and let me tell you, the buns alone were amazing, way better than your average burger buns. They used a lot of local ingredients in their fillings, and the chef's creativity really shined through. Apparently, they tweak their menu often, so what we had might not even be on there next time. As for drinks, they were alright, nothing special, but those burgers? Seriously, a must-try. Plus, the vibe in there was so chill. The staff didn't rush you, and it was just a really relaxing meal. If only the wait wasn't so long, it would've been perfect.
