There is a lot to reflect on in what you say, I have definitely considered the same thing as you and even more so coming from a Christian family.
It should be noted that I am still a Christian, but there are many people in my church, wanting to tell you what to do and what not to do and even worse, they claim to be right and their only validation is "It is the word of God" and by God there is no sillier argument. Oh my, that one.
but also at the end of his entire monologue I say, it works for you or it worked for you, not for me.
