Another outstanding post with beautiful images. I understand your dilemma and how to choose the one photo only. All of them are great, especially when you know that each one has a story behind.
The question you asked to preen or not, is very good. I think some may not realize they preen their egos, but others do it intentionally. However, birds have this ritual, because it is essential for them, while humans don't need it as much. Or better to say, they don't need it at all.
