🦉 The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)

📚fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
📚coelebs coelebs (lat.) - single, idle, unmarried

These famous forest singers are among the first to arrive in spring. This happens even when there is still snow. But despite the snow and cold weather, males are already beginning to occupy territories and mark their boundaries with their songs. Anyone who dares to fly into his territory, the male first drives away, and if this does not work, then he gets into a fight.

But they attack not only each other, but can even attack birds of other species. So I once watched as a chaffinch attacked a brambling.
For wintering, these birds fly away almost imperceptibly. It's like they just disappear. So I can't say when it happens. But a couple of times I met these birds in November, right before winter itself.
