🦉 The tree pipit (Anthus trivialis)

  • Anthus (ancient Greek mythology) Antus, son of Hippodamia, turned into a bird
  • Trivialis (lat.) common, simple, banal

Everyone (or most) is well aware of the white wagtail, which gracefully runs along the sidewalks and shakes its tail. And this species lives in the forest, it is a close relative. He runs on the ground and shakes his tail in the same way, but less often.

It is not easy to see this bird on the ground. Just look at the photo! The bird literally merges with the ground and dry fallen leaves. However, the bird is constantly in motion, which gives it away.
