Going on an adventure with friends is always made even more exciting when given a chance to visit new places. Just recently, we were invited by a friend of ours for a fiesta at Brgy. Kaw-oy in Olango Island which is a small island in the municipality of Lapu-lapu City, Philippines.

We were invited months ago so we all had ample time to prepare for the celebration. We went here with my partner's colleagues.

We are heading to Olango Island, an island across Lapu-lapu City. We traveled going to Angasil Port, located in Angasil, Lapu-lapu City, then we traveled via Santa Rosa Ferry Express going to Olango Island. The fare is ₱40.00 each.

It is a good thing that they kept the fare for ₱40.00 which is affordable not only to tourists but also for locals who travels from Olango Island going to Lapu-lapu City and back and forth. Most people from Olango Island are businessmen and traders who sell fish and other goods to mainland Lapu-lapu City. The ferry boat is accessible and budget-friendly.

Here are the ferry boat schedules. We arrived here at Angasil Port at around 3:30 am to catch the first trip.

We did not bring our motorcycles with us since there is a parking space in Angasil Port which is ₱20 for an overnight parking. I heard the fare for a motorcycle costs around ₱600 and we opt to not bring it since it was just a quick island visit.

This is what the inside of the ferry boat looks like. This is SANTA ROSA FERRY EXPRESS.

One thing I love most about traveling during early morning is the fact that it is not yet that chaotic and crowded. In Olango Island, when there are fiestas in certain barangays, it is expected that a lot of people will be riding the ferry boat and it might get a little too crowded and overwhelming.

As you can see, some passengers brought their motorcycles and I am quite not sure how much the fare for that really is but I just heard it is around six hundred pesos.

The travel time from Angasil Port, Lapu-Lapu to Santa Rosa Port, Olango Island is around 15-20 minutes. So it is just near especially there is no traffic at sea.

What a warm welcome! We were greeted by the beautiful skies of Olango Island. What a good morning indeed. We arrived at around 3:50 am.

And of course, a mandatory group picture at the Olango Port signage. There was indeed a lot of us who went here, we were a total of approximately 16 people.

From Santa Rosa Port, we rode a tricyle going to Brgy. Kaw-oy and the fare was ₱40.

This is what a tricycle in Olango Island looks like. It is quite unusual than the once found in our town. It is mainly the means of transportation of the people here.

We finally arrived at Brgy.Kaw-oy, Olango, and look at that sunrise! You will really appreciate the beauty of nature and realize it really has a lot to offer.

Imagine seeing this view once you wake up. It will really make you even more grateful and appreciative of the things and wonders of nature around you. How I love to live in the island.

Since we arrived early in the morning, they prepared breakfast for us. It was pork bones soup and rice. Here in the Philippines, our staple food is rice therefore we eat rice in almost all of our meals.

After eating breakfast, to our surprise, they served beer instead of juice. Lol. It was too early to get drunk but it would be an exemption since today is a fiesta. Okay. Beer early in the morning. Not that bad I guess.

Then, they turned on the speaker. Another way of celebrating here in the Philippines is by singing your hearts out over your favorite songs in the Karaoke. It adds more fun to the celebration.

After a couple bottles of beer, we then went island hopping which is one of the highlights of this trip.

Going island hopping with friends is one of the best things to do especially if you are on an island. Thankfully, we were not able to pay anything for our island hopping experience since my partner’s colleague was the owner of the boat.

We enjoyed the experience so much and it was the perfect time to unwind after such a stressful week of work. It is important to reward ourselves every once in a while. We all deserve it.

It was such a fun day filled with so many adventures. Ciao!☺︎♡
