Shelter is needed for every living things including humans who control other living things. Anytime we're done with the day work, we need a place to calm our head and have a relaxed night before the next day activities. In agricultural language, I see shelter to be a place set to protect farmers from rain and the sun. As a farmer, we can work all day but when the sun or rain is occuring and nothing to endure over it, we'll need to hide our body under the protective farm shelter so we'll not fall sick.
According to history when I was enquiring information, It's believed that there was no hut, house, or any other form of farm buildings set to protect my people from the farm. Afikpo men and women were only farming and when it's raining, the rain will beat them till the whole day or even the next day. This suffering continued for years by Afikpo men and women as many usually falls sick. One day, the elders came together as one family to seek solutions on how our women will be protected from the the Sun and in the rain whenever they're farming. This is how the meeting of Afikpo farming protective shelter was set. During the olden days, the Afikpo farm protective shelter was build using only bamboo, and palm front before it gets to the present use of wood, cement and other modern facilities.
Inside the Afikpo North farm protective shelter, the elders made it look standard only for farmers. Inside the building, there a big stone that I usually buried at the center of the building. The reason for the stone is to help farmers to use the stone in sharpening their farm tools. As a farmer relaxes inside the building, she can use the opportunity to sharpen her cutlass and other farm working tools.
Looking inside the farm protective building, there is chair around the whole corners of the building from both inside and outside. The chair were designed using a cement to make it look stronger and even last for years. The building chair space is usually serving as a relaxation means for farmers especially during raining or sunny time.
Another very fact about the Afikpo farm protective building is that it provides a good relationship between a farm owner and farm labourers. If I have some farm work which I know I can't handle alone, I will just look for the nearby farm protective building from the farm. If I get to the building in the morning, I will see so many farm workers looking for farm owners to hire them. This means that farm workers are also hired from the farm protective building.
Another important of the Afikpo North farm protective building is that we villagers and even visitors can store most of our farm products like yam, cassava, palm tree nuts, and other farm products there without having any fear of losing it to criminals. This is because the building itself is respected by almost every member of the community.

I believe farmers around the world need to embrace farm protective building. This building should be set close to their farm to help protect them from unwanted rain and sun. A well equipped farm buildings can even house food items a farmer may need to eat when farming.
