Topper,, Fence, PDC, Lunch, Fire, Sweeping, Cherry Bloom, Grilling - Friday

in Homesteadinglast month

Yesterday morning I was relieved of normal duty so didn't have to take the boys to school. Mid morning I headed out to get the topper put on my truck. It has become a pretty straight forward task over the years and despite the rough condition of it the topper fits well enough and is a moderate weather guard.

The turkey hut needed a bit easier access as I had been using the fence to hook on itself. I grabbed a hook from a bungee and clamped it around a wire to make it much easier to open.

Barney finally won a match! He has been getting his ass handed to him in recent tournaments so it was great to see him win one for once. He plays Smith today which will be a tough match for him.

@stryeyz was off of work and she wanted to go to lunch so we headed the 2 miles to the neighborhood restaurant. The new owners have made it a good bit better than the prior.

I picked R up from school then an hour later we went and picked J and C up from running club. Then around 4 I got the fire going in the pit for the evening. Some of the pine needles got tossed on but only the drier ones as the wet ones would tamp out the fire.

I noticed that the roof of the house needed to be swept of the pine needles that had accumulated. A bunch of it went to the fire then.

One of our cherry trees is blooming, well ahead of the other right next to it. Hopefully we can get a solid harvest this year, it's been slowly getting better with each successive year.

The winds were blowing all day and it really played with the smoke around the farm. Normally the smoke rises more but it got swept out into the open over the garden then swirled around in the bowl. The eagles were going off all afternoon as well as their young one is getting bigger and has a voice on it now.

@stryeyz took C home then I got the burgers on to grill for dinner.

WE went out to soak earlier again and made it about an hour.

J made tortillas while we were soaking. He is getting good at them and has his processes down.

Today we head east and will stay at Fairmont Hot Springs. I have a number of things to do around the farm first but our farm sitter will be able to handle anything that comes up.

The dishes look so yummy
I’m so hungry right now and wish to have some

Such things when eaten at home are very good for our health.

The burger looks appealing. @flemingfarm
