Greetings, friends lovers of NFT games and everything related to this little world. Recently I was reviewing the splinterlands cards to participate in the art contest and I found one that catches my attention, it is the Baakjira card.
I was reading the lore of the card and I found it interesting that such a big creature could exist, so I wanted to make it as a sculpture to add it to my collection. Below you can see a picture of the sculpture next to the picture of the card I took as a reference.

Saludos, amigos amantes de los juegos NFT y todo lo relacionado con este mundillo. Hace poco estuve revisando las cartas de splinterlands para participar en el concurso de arte y encontré una que me llama mucho la atención, se trata de la carta Baakjira.
Estuve leyendo el lore de la carta y me pareció interesante que una criatura tan grande pudiera existir, así que la quise hacer como escultura para añadirla a mi colección. A continuación pueden ver una fotografía de la escultura junto a la foto de la carta que tomé como referencia.

Step by step
I made this piece with a material called flexible dough, so I had to use some paint to give it color. I mixed it but not so much, because my idea was that the dough would have white and blue tones, without mixing completely, at least that was my intention, but without realizing it, all the material adopted the same light blue color, so I continued molding it.

Esta pieza la hice con un material llamado masa flexible, así que tuve que usar un poco de pintura para darle color. La mezclé pero no tanto, pues mi idea era que la masa quedara con tonalidades blancas y azul, sin mezclarse por completo, al menos esa era mi intención, pero sin darme cuenta todo el material adoptó el mismo color azul claro, así que lo continué moldeando.

I used a wire to make the piece keep that slightly curved shape, creating the base shape that the whale should have, then I continued molding the mouth part and the back. As you can see in both the sculpture and the card, the mouth of the beast is huge.
Usé un alambre para que la pieza mantuviese esa forma un poco encorvada, logrando crear la forma base que debería tener la ballena, luego continué moldeando la parte de la boca y el lomo. Como pueden ver tanto en la escultura como en la carta, la boca de la bestia es enorme.

The fins also have a large size, so it became necessary to use a small wire to keep the shape I wanted to give them, so I used these brackets not only to mold the fins around them, but also to attach them to the whale's body.
Las aletas también tienen un gran tamaño, así que se volvió necesario usar un pequeño alambre para que mantuviera la forma que quería darles, así que usé estos soportes no solo para moldear las aletas alrededor de estos, sino también para fijarlos en el cuerpo de la ballena.

While it was drying, I continued molding the eyes and the rear fin, then I continued molding the lines that this whale has on the lower part of its body, lines so characteristic of this type of animal.
Mientras se secaba, continué moldeando los ojos y la aleta trasera, luego continué moldeando las líneas que esta ballena tiene en la parte inferior de su cuerpo, líneas tan características de este tipo de animal.

In the card you can see that the whale has some kind of horns on its back, to make them I cut three strips of flexible dough and placed them lengthwise, then with my molding tools I gave the desired shape to each horn.
En la carta se puede ver que la ballena tiene unas especies de cuernos en el lomo, para hacerlos corté tres tiras de masa flexible y las coloqué a lo largo, luego con mis herramientas de moldeado le di la forma deseada a cada cuerno.

After this the whale was technically finished, at least as a sculpture, but it was time for the painting process. As the dough itself adopted a single opaque blue color, I made a mixture to create a slightly more intense blue and covered it with this, then I added a thin layer of silver, to give the piece more shine.
Después de esto la ballena estaba técnicamente terminada, al menos en cuanto escultura, pero era hora del proceso de pintado. Como la propia masa adoptó un único color azul opaco, hice una mezcla para crear un azul un poco más intenso y lo cubrí con este, luego le agregué una fina capa de plateado, para darle mayor brillo a la pieza.

The eyes are also a central part of the sculpture, so I painted them with gold color, using a pin to paint the small pinto I had molded for the eye. Then, I used an even thinner pin to paint the pupil of the eye black, as you can see in the images below.
Los ojos también son parte central de la escultura, así que los pinté con color dorado, usando un alfiler para lograr pintar el pequeño pinto que había moldeado para el ojo. Luego, usé un alfiler aún más delgado para pintar de color negro la pupila del ojo, tal como pueden ver en las imágenes de abajo.

As soon as the paint dried, I continued placing the teeth and horns that the sculpture has, and the last thing I did was to make a sort of base so that the sculpture could stand upright.
Tan pronto secó la pintura, continué colocándole los dientes y cuernos que tiene la escultura y ya lo último que hice fue hacer una suerte de base para que esta pudiera mantenerse erguida.
I placed the sculpture on its base, using glue to hold it in place. This way it was finished. Here are some pictures of the final result:

Baakjira es intimidante a pesar de ser una ballena, y tu escultura la personifica muy bien. Ha quedado muy bien, lo único que le cambiaría serían las aletas, un poco más gruesas, 9/10.
