Greetings

In a league known for its consistently thrilling game weeks, another exciting round has unfolded. With each passing week, the overall picture becomes clearer. Now, let's delve into the takeaways from Gameweek 10 in the English Premier League.

So, without further ado, let's get into the decisions to make ahead of Gameweek 23.

Picking a Captain

Manchester City is gearing up for Gameweek 23 against Brentford, with the prospect of star striker Erling Haaland joining Kevin De Bruyne in the starting lineup. Haaland boasts an impressive record of eight goals in eight away appearances this season. Meanwhile, De Bruyne has been in top form, contributing one goal and two assists in the last two Gameweeks. Alternative options in midfield include in-form players like Diogo Jota, Michael Olise, and Cole Palmer, all averaging at least 10.0 points per match in the last four Gameweeks.

While Man City's Julian Alvarez has excelled with four goals and 30 points in the last four outings, Haaland's potential inclusion adds another dimension to their attacking prowess. The analysis of home/away form suggests Haaland's success on the road, backed by 21 big chances, making him a formidable threat. Crystal Palace's Olise and Chelsea's Palmer emerge as strong alternatives, with the latter benefiting from Wolves' poor away defending.

Considering opponents' defensive vulnerabilities, all four teams analyzed have conceded 35 shots in the box in the last four Gameweeks. Brentford's leaky defense, allowing 12 goals, enhances the appeal of Man City's players. However, Brighton and Wolves show weaknesses in conceding big chances, boosting the prospects of Olise and Palmer, respectively.

In the home/away defending comparison, Palmer, with a 38% ownership, stands out as a captaincy option, especially against Wolves' struggling away defense. While Man City remains the primary choice for captaincy, Haaland's potential inclusion and Palmer's promising home form provide intriguing alternatives for fantasy managers. However, we all got burned one week or another by not captaining Haaland, haven't we?

Players to Consider Buying

According to FPL Experts, there are essentially 5 players to consider buying if you don't have them in your squad already.

The Scout recommends five players for Fantasy Premier League success in Gameweek 23:

1- Luis Diaz (£7.4m)

Diaz has been impressive for Liverpool, scoring in recent fixtures. With Mohamed Salah absent, Diaz's contributions make him a differential. Liverpool faces Arsenal and Burnley in the upcoming Gameweeks. The Arsenal game seems tricky, especially away, but a Liverpool player is bound to breakthrough, and Diaz has as big of a chance as any.

2- Anthony Gordon (£6.1m)

Gordon embarks on a favorable run of fixtures, with eight of the next 10 considered easy. The winger is the fifth top-scoring midfielder in Fantasy, excelling at St James’ Park. Newcastle's upcoming matches include encounters with Luton and Bournemouth.

3- Christopher Nkunku (£7.4m)

Nkunku made a swift impact with a goal against Liverpool in midweek. His first goal of the season came against this week's opponent, Wolves. Wolves have struggled defensively, providing an opportunity for Nkunku to shine.

4- Cristian Romero (£4.9m)

Tottenham's center-back, Romero, faces Everton, a team that has struggled to score recently. Romero's all-round style earns him bonus points in the Bonus Points System. Everton has conceded 22 shots from set-pieces in the last four Gameweeks.

5- Andreas Pereira (£5.3m)

Pereira is determined to break a six-game goal drought in the upcoming fixture against Burnley. Despite recent blanks, Pereira stands out as one of Fulham's standout attackers. His proficiency in set-piece delivery adds an additional dimension, potentially exploiting Burnley's vulnerability in defending free-kicks and corners.

So, these are the players to consider. But, who are the best differentials for Gameweek 23?

Differentials

The Scout has identified four low-owned players poised for a breakthrough in the upcoming Gameweek of the 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League, each owned by less than six per cent of squads.

Dan Burn (£4.4m)

Priced affordably at £4.4m, Burn, Newcastle's left-back, has a favorable schedule for the next 10 Gameweeks. Boasting an attacking threat with two goals, an assist, and five clean sheets, Burn is a budget-friendly defensive option.

Dwight McNeil (£5.4m)

Everton's McNeil offers strong all-round potential against Tottenham Hotspur. Having scored two goals and provided three assists in his last eight starts, McNeil's set-piece delivery could exploit Spurs' weakness in defending such situations.

Gustavo Hamer (5.0m)

Under the management of Chris Wilder, Hamer has improved his creative output with three assists in six outings. Supplying 15 key passes in that run, Hamer faces Aston Villa, a team with only two clean sheets in 11 away matches.

Ben Chilwell (£5.4m)

Chilwell, returning from injury, made his first start since Gameweek 4. Despite a 4-1 loss at Liverpool, his limited minutes suggest a potential start against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Chelsea's defensive resilience at Stamford Bridge and Chilwell's attacking potential make him a promising option for managers willing to take a risk on his playing time.

So, these are the differentials to consider adding if you don't have them already. Now, let's get to the final thing to consider.

Players to Field

In the highly anticipated Gameweek 23 of Fantasy Premier League, all eyes are on Cole Palmer (£5.8m) as he looks set to deliver another stellar performance in a home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The talented midfielder has showcased his prowess with five double-figure returns in just 15 appearances since making his full debut for Chelsea in Gameweek 7. Palmer, who boasts impressive statistics including 38 shots, 18 shots on target, and 24 key passes, is named vice-captain in the carefully crafted best XI lineup, with the prolific Erling Haaland (£14.0m) taking on the captain's armband.

Bernd Leno (£4.8m) stands firm as Fulham's No. 1 goalkeeper, bringing with him a commendable record of six clean sheets, 18 save points, and 12 bonus points. Leno is anticipated to add to his successes at Turf Moor this weekend, facing a Burnley side that has managed only one goal in their last three home matches.

The defensive line is bolstered by the inclusion of Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m), the dynamic right-back set to return to Liverpool's starting XI against Arsenal. Alexander-Arnold's excellent away form, with 32 points earned in the previous four such matches, is fueled by a goal, an assist, two clean sheets, and eight bonus points. Joining him is Kieran Trippier (£6.7m), the Newcastle United right-back, who eyes another bumper haul at St James’ Park in a home fixture against Luton Town. Trippier has delivered three double-figure scores in 10 home appearances, contributing three assists, five clean sheets, and 13 bonus points.

Pedro Porro (£5.9m), the Spanish defender for Tottenham Hotspur, emerges as a strong prospect for points at both ends of the pitch against Everton. In away matches, Porro has proven his worth with a total of seven returns, combining three clean sheets with four assists.

The midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne (£10.7m) from Manchester City has been in stellar form, accumulating an impressive 19 points in just 91 minutes over his last two matches since returning from injury. De Bruyne is poised to maintain this momentum against a Brentford side that has conceded at least twice in their last five contests.

Liverpool's attacking force is further strengthened by the inclusion of Diogo Jota (£8.0m), whose midweek strike against Chelsea took his tally to four goals and three assists in the last four matches. Jota's team-high goal conversion rate of 28.1 per cent underscores his importance to the Reds, especially in the absence of Mohamed Salah (£13.1m).

Richarlison (£7.0m) of Tottenham Hotspur has been a standout performer since being moved up front in Gameweek 16, averaging an impressive 8.0 points per match. The Brazilian has scored seven goals in seven outings, including a goal and eight points against his former team Everton in Gameweek 18.

Newcastle's versatile winger Anthony Gordon (£6.1m) has been a revelation in home matches during the 2023/24 Fantasy season, producing six goals, five assists, and accumulating 76 points. Gordon's adaptability could see him even take on a forward role against Luton this weekend if Alexander Isak (£7.6m) fails to recover from injury.

Completing the formidable lineup is the AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke (£7.1m), who is eager to replicate his previous exploits against Nottingham Forest. In Gameweek 18, Solanke netted a memorable hat-trick, securing a career-high 17 points at the City Ground.

With each player strategically chosen based on recent form, fixture analysis, and potential points contribution, this carefully curated best XI lineup is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming Gameweek 23.

I’ve lost hope with Chelsea’s fullbacks. Every time you think one of them is coming back to form, they get injured again
