A fast turnaround between game weeks, so I won't waffle on for too long. This will be watered down version of the usual head to head posts.
The early kick-off this Saturday is between Everton and Spurs so be sure to get your squad changes in before the 11am (GMT) cut-off for GW23.
It's looking like another tough week in which to extract really big points from a lot of the popular FPL picks. The fact that 2 of the current top 3 go head to head on Sunday when Arsenal host Liverpool doesn't make things any easier. Statistically this is the fixture that has produced more goals than any other in the history of the Premier League but if recent matches between sides at the top of the league are anything to go by it might well turn out to be quite a cagey affair where both teams are more concerned about losing than they are inclined to go for the win.
Elsewhere, we have a clash between the unstoppable force of the Spurs attack, who have scored in their last 34 league matches against the immovable object of the Everton defence. The Toffees were involved in 3 x nil-nil draws during January so fingers crossed for something a little more entertaining this time around.
Other key matches for FPL managers to look at will include Brighton's home match against Palace. Lots of teams have brought in a Brighton player or 2 for their perceived run of easy fixtures so there will be concern about the way they folded against Luton in midweek. Meanwhile just when Palace start to get their mojo back, their 2 main protagonists in Eze and Olise (both viable FPL selections) are a fitness doubt yet again.
Newcastle returned to form with yet another commanding win against Aston Villa in midweek. Could that prove a turning point for their season? The Toon Army are a formidable opponent at home but they come up against a Luton side that is looking increasingly confident at this level.
Reigning Champions Man City travel to Brentford on Monday night. City dispatched Burnley with ease in midweek but this fixture is likely to prove a much tougher challenge. Since their promotion, plenty of the top sides have struggled to 3 get points from a trip to West London and Brentford were unlucky not to get something from their game against Spurs on Wednesday, a match in which they looked the better side for large portions.
