Hive FPL Head to Head League GW31 Previews

Welcome back to another week in the Hive head to head FPL.

The Easter bank holiday makes for a quick turnaround so be sure to get your squad changes in prior to the opening fixtures for GW31 on Tuesday evening.

GW30 saw sides generally reliant on popular picks such as Son, Palmer and Salah doing the business. Big points were on offer from the likes of Ben Breton-Diaz (owned by 0.1% of managers) and his Sheffield United teammate Ollie McBurnie who was selected by just 4800 managers across the entire game. If you had one of those 2 guys in your team last week then hats off to you!

However, with things getting a bit tense at the top of the table then perhaps managers should start looking for assets who are involved in the relegation scrap as opposed to those who are battling for the title!

It was another fairly drab game between City and Arsenal this season as the visitors in paticular decided to settle for a point while the defending champions failed to really hit their stride. With City at home to a Villa side on Thursday that has already shut them out once this season then things don't look likely to get any easier for managers to extract points from City's high price attacking assets.

If managers are looking for alternative buys for the run in then here are a few to consider

Rodrigo Muniz

Club: Fulham
Position: Forward
Price: £4.7 mil

The loss of Mitrovic over the summer clearly had a major impact on Fulham during the first of this season and it's no great surprise that their more consistent performances of late have coincided with the discovery of a goal-scorer in the form of Muniz. Despite having scored 8 times in his last 8 Premier League matches he's still only owned by 8% of teams making him a very useful and very affordable differential.

Fulham play away at Forest this week and they do have fixtures against Liverpool and City on the horizon but otherwise you'd fancy that the Cottagers and Muniz can continue their current late season run for a top half finish.

Antoine Semenyo

Club: Bournemouth
Position: Forward
Price: £4.5 mil

Semenyo has been in and out of the Bournemouth side this season but appears to be very much in the manager's thinking at the moment having started the last 5 Premier League matches for the Cherries. In his last 4 appearances he's looked a real menace registering expected goal involvements of 1.87 and hitting the back of the net on 3 occasions.

Upcoming fixtures against Palace and Luton might also produce further opportunities for points and he is owned by just 3.1% of teams at the moment. The disadvantage is that he's listed as a forward without regularly playing as such, so it's probably a straight pick between him and Muniz.

Nicolas Jackson

Club: Chelsea
Position: Forward
Price: £6.8 mil

Ok so he and Chelsea are shit, let's just make that very clear from the off but with the Blues due to have some double game weeks between now and the end of the season then managers will be thinking about who they can bring in to utilise that advantage.

3 times as many managers own Darwin Nunez who like Jackson continues to spurn plenty of opportunities and costs 0.7 mil more than the Chelsea man! Jackson has also managed a goal involvement in 3 of his last 4 games and at least for the first half of April, the West London club have a winnable run of fixtures.

Morgan Gibbs-White

Club: Notts Forest
Position: Midfield
Price: £5.7 mil

Forest are going to need their main men to step-up for the remainder of the season if they are to escape relegation. Even if they don't go down then the risk of further FFP sanctions will probably mean they are left having to sell the likes of Gibbs-White and plenty of Premier League clubs will be interested in a player who has provided 20 assists Premier League assists since the start of last season.

2 of those have come in his last 2 games where he's set-up another key man for Forest in Chris Wood. If Forest can keep Wood fit then Gibbs-White can provide him with the ammunition to fire them to safety. Forest's run-in includes matches against Everton, Sheffield United and Burnley.

Malo Gusto

Club: Chelsea
Position: Defender
Price: £4.3 mil

Was a popular pick earlier in the season but quickly fell out of favour with managers after his red card against Villa. After that, he started just 1 of the next 11 Premier League matches due to injury, suspension and the availability of Reece James but in recent months he's come back into the side and is looking like one of the few good signings alongside Cole Palmer that Chelsea have made this season.

For much the same reason as Nicolas Jackson, many will now be considering Gusto. In fact, his ownership shot-up for the home match against Burnley to leave him in 10% of Premier League squads but Chelsea were unable to keep a clean sheet against the relegation threatened 10 men. While defensive frailty is likely to persist, going forward, he is ranked no.1 on ICT creativity for defenders over the last 5 GWs.

GW31 Fixtures

I don't have time to do the full preview of the Division 1 fixtures for GW31 as a result of the tight turnaround in game weeks.

I will however look to do some more targeted previews from GW32 onwards of the really key head to heads in both Division 1 and Division 2 as we get to the business end of the season and teams battle for survival and promotion.

I don't know for others but I'm never ever going to let Nicholas Jackson inside my team... He plays football that's so so annoying.

I used my wildcard 😢, hopefully it pays off

lol. Fair enough.

I had him in my team at the start of the season and he was shit. The only he did consistently was get booked!

!BEER

And after tonight's game, he'll have accumulated enough yellows for a 2 match ban.

That'll help his expected goals vs goals record though
