Hello, friends especially foodies!

I don't know what kind of dishes could comfort you but i'm sure all of us have this kinda comforting dish. And for me one of them is Japanese Beef Bowl. I had two restaurants which sell it here, good thing is I went to both recently so now I would like to compare them... Even make it a battle, so let's follow me and check it out yourselves!

First I would like to invite you to visit Yoshinoya beef bowl restaurant which was located in Grand Indonesia Shopping Center.

The restaurant as you could see was large. It had some sofas and also wooden chairs.

Rightaway i came to their cashier to order and pay plus getting my beef bowl of course. Here was the cashier table.

You could see that they put the menu outside the restaurant near the banners, like this..

And they also put the menu on the cashier table.

20240311_130129.jpg

The menu that they served were simple. They had three kind of beef bowl variations in original, yakiniku and blackpepper. You could also completed the beef bowl with the fried made of chicken or shrimp and also ocha. They also had karaage combo or teriyaki combo. If you don't want to have their beef bowls, they sold ebi shrimp bowl, shrimp bowl, teriyaki chicken, and their crispy chicken bowl with some choices of toppings.

The menu they had also included some kind of fried dishes with rice. Not so many, i could say that they had simple dishes to offer you.

After ordered and paid, i went to my table and take a look..

The restaurant was popular so that the chairs and tables around me almost all was getting full. Their dining area was large actually, like you could see from my picture of it from outside before. The interior was rich in japanese authentic wooden style. It also had soft chairs with orange color, their authentic color.

The place was nice to dine in and to chit chat too, but i was alone that time so i called my dad to accompany me, haha.

And the dish that i ordered that day was their authentic original beef bowl packaged with the shrimp made of fried and ocha.

The taste of each dish i had that day,

First from the beef bowl,

The texture of the beef slices they used were soft. It stirred with onion which made it smelled so good. The taste of the beef were savory and a bit sweet. The beef served with warm rice which made it even more perfect. So tasty and incomparable. Suddenly it made me feel comfort and happy.

While for the fried dishes it packaged with were shrimp potato fritter (the circle one), mayonaise shrimp (the square one) and ebi furai.

20240504_203852.jpg

For the fried dishes, the taste of the shrimp potato fritter was savory. It was crunchy outside but soft inside because they blended the shrimp, carrot and also potato of course.

Now the mayonaise shrimp, they had blended the shrimp with mayonaise which made it tasted sweet and a bit sour. It also had crunchy texture outside but soft inside.

And the last, they also gave ebi furai. It had real shrimp inside with fried crumb outside which made it crunchy. It tasted savory and a bit sweet from shrimp natural flavour.

Over all, I enjoyed the fried shrimp dishes my beef bowl served with.

Oh yeah my food also served with hot ocha which made me feel more comfortable that day. In this restaurant you could choose between the hot ocha one or the cold with ice one.

Now that i finished with my review about the first beef bowl i had we then will jump to my second review about the beef bowl i had.... The second beef bowl i had originated from Sukiya. I would like to talk about their branch in Central Park, a mall in West Jakarta.

20240317_111747.jpg

Quite wide but it was not as large as the Yoshinoya restaurant where i had my beef bowl before...

They had some tables there but like i said it was not as large as Yoshinoya. They had wooden tables and chairs there.

20240317_112058.jpg

And also they had a sharing table, where i took my seat that day.

20240317_112144.jpg

20240317_112810.jpg

For the dining area, i prefer Yoshinoya's because it was larger and all had soft chairs. And also the lighting in Yoshinoya somehow brought me some extra warmth. How do you think of them? You could also compare them from the photos i took.

While for the menu of that this place had, it offered more than what Yoshinoya provided. They had gyudon (beef bowl) with variation of toppings, also had them in packages with fried dishes and ryokucha (Japanese green tea which unfortunately only served cold).
20240317_111857.jpg

Also they had some toppings for yakiniku beef bowls.
20240317_111910.jpg

They had variation of Japanese curry such as chicken katsu curry, curry with beef, red hot curry with beef, red hot curry with chicken katsu, karaage curry, deluxe curry and japanese curry rice. For the curry, they also served them in packages too.

20240317_111917.jpg

They also had some variation of Tokyo ramen.

20240317_112024.jpg

Teriyaki chicken and also family meal.

20240317_112033.jpg

So for the menu, my conclusion is it offered more variation than Yoshinoya.

To order here i needed to scan the QR code then i needed to order it online. And it paid at the back (after i ate).

20240317_112532.jpg

This was the package i ordered.

20240317_113456.jpg

It contained beef bowl, some seafood fried dishes (two fish balls and two fried gyozas) plus ryokucha.

And now the one you must be waiting for, how about the taste.

20240317_113500.jpg

20240317_113618.jpg

20240317_113627.jpg

20240317_113748.jpg

The portion of the beef bowl was different from the picture and also far from what Yoshinoya offered. It only gave you really little sliced beef stirred with onion. The sliced beef were soft. It tasted savory and you could smelled ginger it made with. The portion and the taste, made me missed of Yoshinoya's beef bowl much and how comfort when i had had their beef bowl.

So for the beef bowl, the winner would be Yoshinoya becaue this place only offered so so beef bowl, not as tasty as Yoshinoya!

And now how about their fried dishes.

20240504_211546.jpg

They only served fried fish balls which tasted savory and also gyozas which had crunchy skin with also fish balls inside. It tasted nice in savory and sweet but no variation at all, all only contained fish balls which could be easily find anywhere.

So for the fried dishes, i also choose Yoshinoya which could satisfied me with their three kind of dishes.

The price of Yoshinoya beef bowl package was 86K IDR or around 5.4 USD while Sukiya beef bowl package costed me only 54K IDR or around 3.4 USD.

I think the price of the beef bowl had defined the quantity and tastiness of the food i had, so i don't mind to pay more to get better beef bowl. How about you?

Tell me which one would you like to try?

Well, try to compare yoshinoya with Donbury Ichinoya or San Gyu.. Sukiya is not on Yoshinoya segment, they are aiming lower smaller budget people.
