Birthday Bak Kut Teh and Cakesss!

Besides Surawon which I had feasted for my birthday and was a treat from my boys, husband asked me what else I felt like eating. I, without a hesitation, exclaimed, "Bak Kut Teh!"

Leng Kee Bak Kut Teh!

This had been around for years since 1977 and a famous one at Jalan Ipoh. Even tourists talked about it.

📍Restoran Leng Kee Claypot and Bak kut teh centre
Location: 427, Jalan Ipoh, 51200 Kuala Lumpur

Ever since I ate this with my parents years ago, I think this was better than those at Klang. It had its own unique balance of the herbal broth thickness yet not too overly thick or bitter-herb-infused till you couldn't enjoy every sips. And they had the best pork cut, clean and non-smelly.

Ambience

I love eating "Bak Kut Teh" at authentic atmosphere like this, open-aired and at the side of the road.

Menu

A simple one yet good enough to fill up your satisfaction.

And I went in to see the chef doing the preparation. Looks like the young ones has taken over and the older ones doing more relaxing jobs like taking order. Yay!

Food we ordered

By the way "Bak Kut Teh" is in Hokkien language, bak=meat, kut=bone, teh=tea.

There were so many in the menu that I wished to eat but it was only two of us. So we ordered one Bak Kut Teh soup style, one dry type and one braised pork.

Soup BKT

The soup one was so yummy, packed of herbs taste, yet not too thick, and sweet fragrance soup, could tell it was boiled with lots of bones, and yummy herbs and collagen-packed. So satisfying.

Dry BKT

This one was stir fried with dried chillies and ladies finger, was so appetizing too. Perfect balance of soy sauce and squid in this Claypot too.

Braised pork

This one was authentic, I almost not used to it because no MSG or sugar was added. Husband said it was so original just braided the meat till soften in soy sauce gravy. Packed of collagen too.

Tofu pok and drinks

We ordered side dish which was Tofu pok, very yummy to eat this with the meat and rice and chillies and garlic. Yums! They gave us extra BKT soup too. For drinks, we had sugar cane refreshing sips.

Model of the night!

My yummy bowl of rice and BKT

Husband took for me each slice from each Claypot and said Holy Trinity, lol... Just for fun.

Cakes

I had cakes and coffee too from my brother and sister-in-law.

May I continue to grow gracefully, every year more added wisdom and peace and great health!

My, that looks yum, i think I'll eat more rice if this was on my table 🤩🤩✨

Yeah, usually people eat more rice. Sorry for delayed response, whole family was down with viral infection. Thank you for dropping by.

i think bak kut tea is about 'tea only' 😅

It does sound like tea only. 😁 Now that you know 'bak' is meat, 'kut' is bone. Hehe. But the tea is also not literally the tea we drank, but more of Chinese herbs leaves used for cooking.

I think I've been to this place but not sure. It was a long time ago and has similar setting. I'll be putting them on my list 😁

Perhaps it is the same one. They had not changed place and never upgrade the ambience, yet people still come. Like, old great place!
