The Wise Ox - Restaurant Review [EN/PT-BR]

Even though I don't post a lot about food, I consider myself a foodie. I love good food, and eating well. I'm not picky with food, I eat pretty much anything.
This week I remembered about a burger place I had eaten a couple years ago, they had an amazing burger, and I told my wife I wanted to check it out again, but when I searched online for it, the one I had been was closed. The owners opened a couple new restaurants in different places, but checking their reviews online, I lost interest. Most reviews were saying it was not like the original place anymore.

But since I was already craving for a burger, I decided to try a different one. I had heard about The Wise Ox a while ago, but never been there before, so I decided to give it a shot. I checked again for reviews before going and found some posts on reddit where some people said it was the best in San Diego. On most reviews everyone mentioned the Dry Aged Burger. Dry aged steak is supposed to have a lot more flavor and tenderness, so this one got me curious.

As you can see in the pictures, this is a small deli and butchery that also sells sandwiches. It's very clean and nicely decorated. Right when you get in you see a refrigerator with some dry aged stake inside. Next to the cashier there is another refrigerator with a good selection of fresh meat. They also have some salads (potato, macaroni, chicken), marinated meats, sauces, wine bottles, beer and drinks.
There are some seats outside to enjoy your food, and in front of it they have a smoker. I guess they some meat right there as well, or maybe take that smoker to events.
The burger was delicious, it was perfectly cooked, pink in the middle. Just how it should be. The Dry Aged Burger comes with havarti cheese, bacon, mayo, mustard and pickles. I ordered some fries as well and a local beer to pair with it. The beer was the legion lager from Kings Convict Brewing Co. I haven't had a burger this good in a long time, I really liked it and I recommend it.

Embora eu não costume fazer posts sobre comida, eu me considero uma fã de comida ou foodie. Adoro boa comida e comer bem. Não sou exigente com comida, como praticamente qualquer coisa.
Esta semana, me lembrei de uma hamburgueria que havia comido há alguns anos, que tinha um hambúrguer incrível, e disse à minha esposa que queria ir lá de novo, mas quando pesquisei na internet, a hamburgueria em que eu havia estado estava fechada. Os proprietários abriram dois novos restaurantes em lugares diferentes, mas, ao verificar as avaliações on-line, perdi o interesse. A maioria das avaliações dizia que não era mais como o local original.

Mas como eu já estava com vontade de comer um hambúrguer, decidi experimentar um diferente. Eu tinha ouvido falar do The Wise Ox há algum tempo, mas nunca tinha ido lá, então decidi tentar. Antes de ir, procurei novamente por avaliações e encontrei algumas postagens no reddit em que algumas pessoas diziam que era o melhor de San Diego. Na maioria das avaliações, todos mencionaram o Dry Aged Burger, hamburger de carne maturada. Supostamente a carne maturada tem muito mais sabor e maciez, por isso fiquei curioso.

Como você pode ver nas fotos, trata-se de uma pequena delicatessen e açougue que também vende sanduíches. O local é muito limpo e bem decorado. Logo ao entrar, você vê uma geladeira com diferentes tipos de carne maturada dentro. Ao lado do caixa, há outra geladeira com uma boa seleção de carnes frescas. Eles também têm algumas saladas (batata, macarrão, frango), carnes marinadas, molhos, garrafas de vinho, cerveja e outras bebidas.
Há alguns assentos do lado de fora para saborear sua comida e, em frente, há um defumador. Acho que eles também defumam carne ali mesmo, ou talvez levem esse defumador para eventos.
O hambúrguer estava delicioso, perfeitamente cozido, rosado no meio. Exatamente como deveria ser. O Dry Aged Burger vem com queijo havarti, bacon, maionese, mostarda e picles. Pedi também batatas fritas e uma cerveja local para acompanhar. A cerveja era a Legion Lager da Kings Convict Brewing Co. Fazia tempo que eu não comia um hambúrguer tão bom, gostei muito e recomendo.
