According to a statement made by the US Food and Drug Administration on November 16, which was published by Reuters, UPSIDE Foods, the business that makes chicken produced from animal cells, will be permitted to market its product once it has through inspection by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). This meat is produced in a stainless steel tank using live animal cells.

The world is undergoing a food revolution, according to FDA Commissioners Robert M. Califf and Susan Mayne, head of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, and FDA is dedicated to fostering innovation in the food sector of supply of food.

The FDA stated in papers made public on November 16 that it had examined data from UPSIDE Foods and had no more concerns regarding the company's determination that its products are safe for ingestion by humans.

We are thrilled by the FDA news. This significant action made our market entry possible.

That is what UPSIDE Foods' head of communications David Kay stated in an email.

The FDA claims that the authorization is not a technical approval and that it only applies to UPSIDE Foods products, despite the fact that the organization is willing to collaborate with other businesses creating cellular foods for domesticated animals.

In accordance with a 2019 agreement, the USDA and FDA evaluate cell-cultured meat together. Cell-cultured meat products will be processed and labeled under USDA supervision.

As more people are becoming aware of the enormous greenhouse gas emissions associated with cattle husbandry, the demand for meat substitutes has grown.

Because it doesn't need killing animals and lessens the environmental effect of the livestock business, artificial meat is seen as the meal of the future in the US.

According to reports, the Bay Area-based startup company UPSIDE Foods has constructed a new production facility with the capacity to produce 22.6 tons of synthetic meat annually. The cost of this new food has not yet been determined by the company, but it is likely that it will not be low.
