WHAT PREVENTS ACTION?

in ecoTrain2 years ago (edited)

It’s not just a saying – action does indeed take us to a different place in life. It might be a physical location, or it might be an emotional state. In some cases, the change is so drastic that we don’t even recognize ourselves. In other cases, the new place is nothing but a slight improvement from the old one. But no matter what, action is what moves us forward and through our lives with purpose and intent. So what prevents us from taking action? Why can we only support great ideas so little just by thinking "oh this is a good idea, it will do great things blah blah" but do nothing? This question kept me thinking for a long time even though it doesn't sound like a difficult question. There are dozens of possible reasons why we procrastinate or even refuse to act, but I still want to think more deeply from a personal perspective, what was stopping me from taking action and how it succeeded in keeping me from doing anything.

1. This action will take me to nowhere

Of course, a day at the gym can't bring you the results of a person who has been going to the gym continuously for 10 years. Once you refuse to use plastic bags when you go shopping does not significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste on earth. It is true that one action will not make a big difference, we need a continuous sequence of actions to lead us to a desired outcome. However, each small action is an important link in the process that leads us to results. A common mistake is that we tend to look at the results of an action to evaluate the whole process, and then when we don't see that result after taking that one action, we assume that the whole process will yield nothing and we take no action.

2. It's too late to take any action

When you realize that desirable results can only be achieved after a course of action, the impatience and the lack of confidence in the process and the results that hold you back. I'm too old to start learning a new language. Or like they've been so successful in this field that there won't be any chance for me there. We spend a lot of time worrying that it will take a long time to achieve something while not having time to act immediately and bring the road to success a little closer. We look at the success of others but forget that new opportunities always come to those who are willing to take action and persistently pursue their goals.

3. I still have time for it

Procrastination makes us great planners, yes, but it will always be a plan that sounds so promising that we never know what the outcome will be. We have a lot of time but it's counting down, you never know what tomorrow will bring. Great ideas will gradually fade into oblivion or you will miss the opportunity for those ideas to bring you certain success. Have you ever seen a person who has been very successful with exactly the same idea that you had been hatching but never had time to execute. I believe yes, and the difference between you and that successful person is probably that they take action immediately rather than waiting for a good day to do it.

One of the most important attributes of a person is their willingness to take action. Once you've identified what you want to do, act! It is better to act and then learn than to live with regret. Think about any regrets that you have in your life - perhaps they are not too significant, but there are some regrets that matter more than others.

nice! you really gave this some good thought!

It is true that one action will not make a big difference, we need a continuous sequence of actions to lead us to a desired outcome

now how true is that!! no one thought of this yet!! very nice!

Thank you @eco-alex! As it said this question is quite simple, there are many reasons that can pop out easily in your mind. But when we take more time to think about the problem, we can see the points that we might miss out sometimes.
