Finally, I’m generally curious if you consider yourself an optimist, a pessimist, or a realist, whether you’re happy with that characteristic of yourself, and if so why?
Actually I am none of those three categories you are mentioning in that quote above. But I belong to a "fourth" category that I don't know if you've heard about it before and perhaps that's why you didn't include it in your selection.
I am an agnostic stoic. Or what in a somewhat more familiar description we could call a Defensive Pessimist that only has Logic as his only God. And if it is of your true interest to delve a little more into the meaning of those two terms and why I might feel happy with that characteristic and be satisfied in being one of them. Then you can find a more extensive answer in my last article that I wrote specifically in response of this post of yours.
