To make the best use of my time, I always like to go explore places where I can find something interesting. This trip to San Juan in Argentina is the longest trip I have taken so far but I still use all my free time to go find worthwhile activities. One of them was when I visited the Zonda Valley, about 15 km from the city center: before reaching the valley itself, you come across a large ravine of stone mountains. These mountains can be climbed and walked on top of them, but something that caught our attention is that there were even interesting things inside ❤️.
Para aprovechar el tiempo de la mejor manera, siempre me gusta ir a explorar lugares donde pueda encontrar algo interesante. Este viaje a San Juan en Argentina es el viaje más largo que hice hasta ahora pero igual uso todo mi tiempo libre para ir a buscar encontrarme con actividades que valgan la pena. Una de ellas fue cuando visité el Valle de Zonda, a unos 15 km del centro de la ciudad: antes de llegar al valle propiamente dicho, te encontras con una gran quebrada de montañas de piedra. Estas montañas pueden escalarse y pasear encima de ellas, pero algo que nos llamó la atención es que incluso habían cosas interesantes en su interior ❤️.
This valley is one of the most important tourist spots in the city and luckily there is a public transport service that takes you here. With a trip of just one hour you can get away from the center and be in this beautiful place. Along with the dams, these are the places that I recommend to the guests of the hostel where I work, in case they want a good, nice and cheap walk ❣️.
Este valle es uno de los puntos turísticos más importantes de la ciudad y por suerte hay un servicio de transporte público que te trae hasta acá. Con un viaje de solo una hora podes alejarte del centro y estar en este hermoso lugar. Junto con los diques, estos son los lugares que recomiendo a los huéspedes del hostel en donde trabajo, en caso de que quieran un paseo bueno, bonito y barato ❣️.
On the recommendation of the hostel owners, when we went to this area before starting to climb a mountain we made a short stop at the base. In one of these rock formations, on the side of this valley, there is a museum located in a cave. Called 'Einstein Geographic Museum', this place is run by a man who is very friendly from the first minute and takes credit for the creation of this museum 😁.
Por recomendación de los dueños del hostel, cuando fuimos a esta zona antes de empezar a escalar una montaña hicimos una pequeña parada en la base. En una de estas formaciones rocosas, al costado de este valle se ubica un museo emplazado en una cueva. Llamado 'Museo Geográfico de Einstein', este lugar está atendido por un señor que se muestra muy amable desde el primer minuto y se adjudica la creación de este museo 😁.
For a small fee of 400 ARS ($0.4), this man let us into this cave so we could see his collection of objects. He said that most of these he found on his own expeditions, while many others were donated by various people who found out about his museum. In this place you could find fossil remains, skeletons, stones, petrified plants and different prehistoric utensils. For the little we paid, it was an interesting collection to see ❣️.
Por una pequeña tarifa de 400 ARS ($0.4), este hombre nos dejó pasar a esta cueva para que pudiéramos ver su colección de objetos. Él dijo que la mayoría de estos los encontró él en sus propias expediciones, mientras que otros tantos fueron donados por diversas personas que se enteraron de su museo. En este lugar se podían encontrar restos fósiles, esqueletos, piedras, plantas petrificadas y distintos utensillos prehistóricos. Por lo poco que pagamos, era una colección interesante para ver ❣️.
When you asked the man what kind of specialist he was, it seemed to me that he called himself 'an expert in almost everything'. He was in charge of telling us the history of a lot of things in the museum and where he found them. He told us that he has had this museum for more than 40 years and that he has things to build like three more museums. Without a doubt, the man was a very intelligent person and it was a pleasure to listen to him speak with passion about the topics that he liked ❣️.
Cuando le preguntabas al señor qué tipo de especialista era, me pareció que se denominaba a sí mismo 'experto en casi todo'. Él se encargó de contarnos la historia de gran cantidad de cosas en el museo y en donde las encontró. Nos contó que tiene este museo hace más de 40 años y que tiene cosas como para armar como tres museos más. Sin dudas el señor era una persona muy inteligente y daba gusto escucharlo hablar con pasión sobre los temas que le gustan ❣️.
Touring this museum takes approximately half an hour: it is not such a large space but there are so many little things to see that you stop quite a bit in each showcase. I also found this place to be very interesting to spark curiosity in children, show them new things and keep them entertained 😁.
Recorrer este museo toma una media hora aproximadamente: no es un espacio tan amplio pero hay tantas pequeñas cosas para ver que te detienes bastante en cada vitrina. También me pareció que este lugar es muy interesante para despertar la curiosidad en los niños, mostrarles nuevas cosas y mantenerlos entretenidos 😁.
Another thing that the owner of the museum taught us is that these mountains are made of solid rock and that is why these caves can be built in it. This cave is not the only one on this mountain, but it is the only one that has a museum of these characteristics. I thought it was a nice place to hang out, plus it was pretty cool in there, compared to the hot weather outside 😅.
Otra cosa que nos enseñó el dueño del mueseo es que estas montañas son de roca maciza y es por eso que se pueden construir estas cuevas en ella. Esta cueva no es la única que hay en esta montaña, pero si la única que tiene un museo de estas características. Me pareció un lindo lugar para pasar el rato, además de que estaba bastante fresco ahí adentro, a comparación del clima caluroso que había afuera 😅.
I think that nature never ceases to surprise me, both with its beautiful landscapes and with traces of the past like the ones I could see in this museum. There are so many fascinating things to learn that it's always nice to know a little more about our world. I liked having known this museum so I could recommend it to the hostel guests, and when I get them to go, I like to hear that they also liked the museum, as much as I did ❤️.
Creo que la naturaleza nunca deja de sorprenderme, tanto con sus hermosos paisajes como con los rastros del pasado como los que pude ver en este museo. Hay tantas cosas fascinantes para aprender que siempre es lindo conocer un poco más sobre nuestro mundo. Haber conocido este museo me gustó para poder recomendarlo a los huéspedes del hostel, y cuando logro que vayan, me gusta escuchar que a ellos también le gustó el museo, tanto como a mí ❤️.
