Today, for the first time in my life, I spoke with a common squirrel so closely. I was always surprised if one of my acquaintances posted photos of squirrels taken from a close distance. I grew up in the village and I know well how fast these creatures are. They don't pose and wait for you to point the camera at them. Even quite tame squirrels from the Valentino park in Turin jumped up the trunk of the tree with all their might. Many photos were blurry for that reason.

Я виросла в селі і добре знаю які швидкі ці створіння. Вони не позують і не чекають поки ти наведеш на них камеру. Навіть досить ручні білки з парку Валентино, що в Торіно скакали по стовбуру дерева щосили. Багато фотографій були по тій причині розмитими.

This spring, my friend Oleg Sharabura unearthed such a cache of nuts. He saw that one nut had begun to sprout. Oleg wanted to dig it up to plant it in another place... and there was a whole bunch of sprouted nuts. The squirrel did a good job! She forgot about the hiding place, and Oleg now has many seedlings. He will have a walnut grove near the house.

So the squirrel went to my neighbor Slava in the attic, where the walnuts were drying. Such a small but very agile squirrel deprived Slava of her nut crop.

Так білка занадилась до моєї сусідки Слави на горище, де сушилися волоські горіхи. Така мала але дуже спритна білка позбавила Славу її врожаю горіхів.

When I ran out of nuts, the squirrels kept asking. They jumped to my feet and one even bit my finger. The teeth in the squirrel are sharp, pre-sharp. Rodents, in a word.

Вони скакали на ноги і одна мене навіть вкусила за палець. Зуби в білок гострі прегострі. Гризуни, одним словом.
When I put the bag on the bench, the squirrel wanted to look for nuts there too. It is interesting to watch them. They are funny and funny little animals. There were many children with their parents in the park. The children generously fed the squirrels.
Коли я поставила сумку на лавці то білка хотіла ще й там пошукати горішків. Цікаво за ними спостерігати. Вони забавні і кумедні звірятка. В парку було багато дітей з батьками. Діти щедро давали корм білочкам.
I had a wonderful day in nature. I rested, watching playful squirrels.
