Hello dear friends, I hope you are all well, lately I have been working on a personal art project, which took me a long time, however I feel like everything has been going well little by little. On this occasion I want to share with the community a little of the work I am doing, I mention that I work on a series of paintings to represent Venezuelan culture at different times, I do this through painted banknotes. In this publication I present a couple of works in which I am going to place a frame, these were not made by me, I have not yet mastered the technique of cutting wood and carpentry in general, so I chose to buy the frames already made of factory, here I show how the process was to frame the bills, I hope you like it and it will help you for future photography projects you have.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, últimamente he estado trabajando en un proyecto personal de arte, el cual me la llevado mucho tiempo, sin embargo me siento como todo ha ido saliendo bien poco a poco. En esta oportunidad quiero compartir con la comunidad un poco del trabajo que estoy realizando, comento que trabajo en una serie de pinturas para representar a la cultura venezolana en diferentes tiempos, esto lo hago a través de los billetes pintados. En la presente publicación les presento un par de trabajos los cuales voy a colocarles un marco, estos no fueron hechos por mi, aun no domino la técnica de cortar la madera y la carpintería en general, así que opté por comprar los marcos ya hechos de fábrica, aquí muestro como fue el proceso para enmarcar los billetes, espero les guste y les sirva para futuros proyectos que tengan de fotografías.

I toured a few stores, looking for good quality rather than good price, because for art, I think the latter aspect is not so important. So I went to several places but I didn't find what I was looking for, there were some very poor quality portrait frames, made in China, they looked attractive, but when I touched them, the quality left a lot to be desired. There was also the other extreme, I found some of good quality but the price was too high, plus the size didn't seem right for my purposes.
Recorrí algunas tiendas, buscando buena calidad en lugar de buen precio, porque para el arte, creo que este último aspecto no es tan importante. Así que fui a varias partes pero no encontré lo que buscaba, había algunos porta retratos de muy mala calidad, hecho en China, se veían atractivos, pero al tocarlos, la calidad dejaba mucho que desear. También estaba el otro extremo, encontré algunos de buena calidad pero el precio era demasiado elevado, además que el tamaño no me parecía el acorde para mis propósitos.

In the end I found some portrait holders that seemed perfect, apart from the fact that they looked good quality, the price was a gift. I just had to keep looking for good stores. I bought two black frames and one wooden frame in a natural color, I really liked that combination.
Al final encontré unos porta retratos que me parecieron perfectos, a parte de que se veían de buena calidad el precio fue un regalo. Solamente tenía que seguir buscando buenas tiendas. Compre dos marcos de color negro y uno de madera en color natural, me gustó mucho esa combinación.

I started with a black portrait holder, it measures 20.5 centimeters by 25.5 centimeters, I disassembled it very easily, on the back it has metal tabs that move easily, you just have to lift them and you can lift them up later. the security cover, finally an inner cardboard frame known as passepartout is removed.
Comencé por un porta retrato negro, este tiene unas medidas de 20,5 centímetros por 25,5 centímetros, lo desarmé muy fácil, en la parte trasera tiene unas pestañas de metal que se mueven facilmente, solo hay que levantarlas y se puede levantar luego la tapa de seguridad, por último se extrae un marco interior de cartón conocido como passepartout.

Since in this painting I am going to place a trio of banknotes joined together, I had to make a cut in the passepartout. So I measured the bills and what I did was add the difference to the cut that the passepartout already had and then make the lines with a pencil and ruler. When I finished the table that will cover the bills, I took a stationery knife and started cutting a little. little by little the passepartout, so as not to damage it, here I did it very carefully since despite being a very thick cardboard, it can be easily damaged.
Como en este cuadro voy a colocar un trío de billetes unidos, tuve que hacerle un corte al passepartout. Así que medi los billetes y lo que hice fue sumar la diferencia al corte que ya traía el passepartout y luego hacer las líneas con lápiz y regla, al finalizar el cuadro que va abarcar los billetes, tomé una navaja de papelería y comencé a cortar poco a poco el passepartout, para no estropearlo, aquí lo hice con mucho cuidado ya que a pesar de ser un cartón de gran grosor, se puede estropear facilmente.

The next step was to add the bills, these easily fit into the cut I made, then I arranged them next to the protective glass, and after this I put the safety cover and secured it with the metal clips that go to the sides. This portrait holder can be used vertically and horizontally, you can move the hooks it has.
El siguiente paso fue agregar los billetes, estos entraron facilmente en el corte que hice, luego los ordené junto al vidrio protector, y despues de esto puse la tapa de seguridad y la aseguré con los canchos de metal que van hacia los lados. Este porta retratos se puede utilizar de manera vertical y de manera horizontal, se le puede mover los ganchos que que tiene.

I used the same process with the frame that has natural colored wood, this wood is Pine and I really like its smell and its softness. The difference is that this frame did not come with a passepartout, but that did not mean a problem, I made one with black cardboard, I took this cardboard from my new drawing block with black sheets. Following the same previous process, I also ordered each piece and finally placed the safety cover, thus my work was finished.
El mismo proceso usé con el marco que tiene la madera de color natura, esta madera es de Pino y me gusta mucho su olor y su suavidad. La diferencia es que este marco no traía passepartout, pero eso no significó problema, yo le hice uno con cartulina de color negro, esta cartulina la saqué de mi nuevo block de dibujo de hojas negras. Siguiendo el mismo proceso anterior, también ordene cada pieza y por último coloqué la tapa de seguridad, así quedo finalizado mi trabajo.
This is how my work was finished, the result was more than I expected, it is impressive how a frame gives life to the paintings. Now I need to find other frames for the series of bills that I still need to frame, I already have my series ready for my project, this series of paintings will be sent to a contest, where I hope to be able to pass the first round, so a good presentation always impresses. Así quedó finalizado mi trabajo, el resultado fue más d elo que esperaba, es impresionante como un marco le da vida a las pinturas. Ahora me falta encontrar otros marcos para la serie de billetes que aún me falta por enmarcar, ya tengo lista mi serie para mi proyecto, esta serie de pinturas seran enviadas a un concurso, donde espero poder pasar la primera ronda, así que una buena presentación siempre impresiona. Esa es la parte más complicada una vez que hacemos un cuadro, conseguir quien haga monturas. Creo que es un buen proyecto para las escuelas de arte, a veces la montura cuesta más que la obra y eso no está bien. Saludos cordiales.
Totalmente cierto y creo que es una parte importante ya que forma parte del mismo arte. A mi me encantaría aprender este oficio.. Es dificil conseguir algo que vaya con lo que hemos pintado
