How are the months of this new year treating you friends of Hive? Welcome to my post once again, I'm Nitsu and this time I'm bringing a sculpture that was edited by me to turn it into a bust, so I'll tell you a little bit of the story behind this character and how I modified it to get what I wanted.

Some time ago I had seen a venture that created iconic sculptures in plaster molds and I had seen some figures, to be more specific, a bust of the representation of Lady Justice. I had loved it but the price was way beyond my means and taking advantage of the fact that I was with this 3D printing project I decided to see what I could do.
Hace un tiempo había visto un emprendimiento que creaba esculturas icónicas en moldes de yeso y yo había visto unas figuras, para ser más específico, un busto de la representación de la Dama de la justicia. I searched a lot on the internet, in a lot of pages, but I couldn't find exactly the file I needed for this work, I wanted an STL that was from the waist up and that didn't have the arms, but I couldn't find options that convinced me. Moreover, I had found the file of the original sculpture both full body and bust, but the files cost 100 and 50 dollars respectively, clearly I could not afford to buy them so I looked for the file that convinced me and I edited it with the Mesh Mixer program making cuts and scaling the figure.

This sculpture represents Themis, an ancient Greek Goddess who was associated with justice, law and divided order, in the methodology she is the daughter of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaia (Earth). Themis personifies the idea of impartial justice, equal for all and the natural order of things, her best known representation is that of a blindfolded woman, representing the impartiality that justice must have, holding a scale symbolizing impartiality and balance when making judicial decisions, while the sword represents the strength and power necessary to enforce the law.

It is a sculpture that I have loved to make, but also one of those that has cost me the most, and not because of the complexity of printing or anything like that, but because I could not get a file that convinced me, I had to spend several hours looking for a file and then I had to edit it. This representation of Themis as the personification of justice has endured for a long time, both in logos and paintings, and her image has come to be used in legal and judicial contexts around the world.
