On the one hand, it's great that you fixed the mower. On the other hand, I see a wasteland for insects, birds, and other animals. That makes me a little sad.

How do we fix it?
Rock gardens have long been criticized. Groundcovers that bloom would be better. A shallow bird bath, one half filled with rocks sticking out of the water, helps both birds and insects. That would be a start.
Thanks for the tips, that is good to know, maybe I can make some changes to be more friendly to them. Mostly I just have grass in my garden at the moment.
