Photography in architecture is that which specializes in capturing man-made works through images. In this style, photography is dedicated to capturing 3 elements: the exterior, the interior and the details.
This photographic style can also be defined as urban photography and this is due to the fact that the composition of the image captured through the lens must include the space or surroundings. Architectural works are often connected to the urban and this is one of the things we must take into account to reflect it in our photographs.
La fotografía en la arquitectura es aquella que se especializa de captar las obras realizadas por el hombre mediante imágenes. En éste estilo la fotografía está dedicada a capturar 3 elementos: el exterior, el interior y los detalles.
Se puede definir también como fotografía urbana a éste estilo fotográfico y esto se debe a que la composición de la imagen captada a través del lente debe tener la inclusión del espacio o alrededores. Las obras arquitectónicas suelen estar conectadas con lo urbano y es ésta una de las cosas que debemos tener en cuenta para poder reflejarlo en nuestras fotografías.
For each shot it is necessary to take into account different aspects in order to obtain good results when taking this type of photographs.
For architectural photographs it should be taken into account that we would be in front of a large structure so it is advisable to use only natural light, taking advantage of the varying shades of the sun according to each season of the year.
Para cada toma es necesario tener en cuenta diferentes aspectos para obtener buenos resultados a la hora de hacer este tipo de fotografías.
Para las fotografías de arquitecturas se debe tomar en cuenta que estaríamos frente a una estructura de gran tamaño por lo que es recomendable utilizar exclusivamente luz natural, aprovechando las tonalidades variantes del sol de acuerdo a cada estación del año.
As previously mentioned, the environment plays an important role in the composition of architectural photography, so we must take into account its surroundings, landscapes, streets, people and traffic.
It is advisable to use a tripod for the realization of these shots although it is not necessary, however with this support we could have better results in terms of camera stability and thus obtain a better symmetry.
Como anteriormente mencionamos, el entorno juega un papel importante en la composición de la fotografía de arquitectura, por lo cual debemos tener en cuenta sus alrededores, paisajes, calles, personas y el tráfico.
Es recomendable utilizar un trípode para la realización de éstas tomas aunque no es necesario, sin embargo con este soporte podríamos tener mejores resultados en cuanto a la estabilidad de la cámara y así obtener una mejor simetría.
Another issue to consider before taking an architectural photograph is to study in advance what the work is about, who built it, who its designers were and what exactly its function is.
The importance of each detail of the structure allows us to have more visual field at the time of visiting the place and we would be visually more focused on what we are going to photograph.
Creativity is essential for this type of photographs and for all of them in general, let's have in mind the idea of the image we want to obtain, let's not be afraid to include people since architectures could not exist without them and those people together with the environment are part of the composition.
Otro de los temas a considerar antes de realizar una fotografía arquitectónica es estudiar con anticipación de que se trata la obra, quien la construyó, quienes fueron sus diseñadores y cuál es exactamente su funcion.
La importancia de cada detalles de la estructura nos permite tener más campo visual a la hora de visitar el lugar y ya estaríamos visualmente más enfocados en lo que vamos a fotografiar.
Es indispensable la creatividad para este tipo de fotografías y para todas en general, tengamos en la mente la idea de la imagen que queremos obtener, no tengamos miedo de incluir a las personas ya que las arquitecturas no podrían existir sin ellas y esas personas junto al entorno forman parte de la composición.

Winner of the American Institute of Architects Architectural Photography Award in 1961, she is one of the best known photographers of the 20th century. Creator of the most relevant photographs of buildings of the 50s and 60s.

Considerado el pionero del género. Su trabajo se caracteriza por emplear el color en sus fotografías dando así una representación más realista. Su trabajo más conocido es la vivienda de Pierre Koening en Hollywood Hills.
