5 days left in the Baron's Bounty Promotion

Today I'll talk a little more about what it might mean to "win the promotion".

Here's some background

Every 4 years or so, Bitcoin blocks get chopped in half. The payouts to miners get effectively chopped in half which is not a bad thing since the value of the bitcoins they receive can still go up as easily as they go down. If anything Bitcoin halving seems to stimulate the whole crypto and NFT economy. Last time it happened Splinterlands had a promotional event selling an incredible NFT called Halfling Alchemist. At the time it was the only card in Splinterlands with the halving ability.

We just had another Bitcoin halving and Splinterlands is having another halving promotional event to celebrate the occasion. The current promotion started shortly before the Bitcoin halving occurred and there are 5 days left to participate.

You can buy Baron Fyatt

image.png

A legendary card with the halving ability for 31,250 credits or DEC.

31,250 credits is $31.25

31,250 DEC is 31,250 x $0.827/1000 DEC = $25.844, so nobody is buying these with credits.

You can buy Henchling Enforcer

image.png

A rare card with the halving ability for 3,125 credits or DEC.

3,125 credits is $3.125

3,125 DEC is 3,125 x $0.827/1000 DEC = $2.5844, so nobody is buying these with credits.

Vouchers can be used for halving the cost of either card at a rate of 1 voucher per 50 DEC (or credits)

So Baron Fyatt would cost

312 vouchers x $0.0319/voucher = $9.95 +
15,650 DEC x $0.827/1000 DEC = $12.94 = $22.90

Henchling Enforcer would cost

31 vouchers x $0.0319/voucher = $0.99 +
1,575 DEC x $0.827/1000 DEC = $1.30 = $2.29

So vouchers don't actually offer that much of a discount.

In addition to receiving the cards that you buy, each one has a 4% chance of being gold foil. You will also receive points that will count towards a raffle and a leader board. The sooner you buy, the higher the multiplier on the points that you'll receive.

If you're aiming for the leaderboard prizes then you're probably better off skipping vouchers as only DEC and credits used in your purchase will count towards those points.

The current multiplier is 1.57

The top spot on the leaderboard still has 31,728,750 points

31,728,750/1.57 = 20,209,394.9 DEC that you would need to spend which is
20,209,394.9 x $0.827/1000 DEC = $16,713.17

That number is up quite a bit, so you can see that you were better off buying early if you wanted to snatch the leaderboard. If you did choke up that sort of money today it would still be possible for someone to dethrone you (especially the person who's been sitting in that top spot).

Here's the haul that you would get for your trouble

"The Burninator" Legendary title, so you can join Trogdor

image.png

I pulled this image from knowyourmeme.com, I expect that they copied it from homestarrunner.com

If you don't now what this is about, check it out. If you're not comfortable with an unfamiliar website then you can find it on youtube.com

Other titles on the market range from $75 - 14,500. I don't see where their rarities are indicated. There are already a few people with this title from the burning event last year. Nobody has a Burninator title available for sale right now. There is 1 Incinerator title available in the market for $589, so this could realistically be worth more than that.

If any of you have experience buying or selling titles, feel free to weigh in.

Here's what those cards are currently going for on the secondary market

And the gold foils

image.png

$10.20 x 11 BCX = $112.20
$1.19 x 115 BCX = $136.85
$127.78 x 4 BCX = $511.12
$10.15 x 22 BCX = $223.30

For a total of $983.47 worth of cards. I expect that "The Burninator" title is worth over $600, so that's about $1,600 worth of stuff for securing the top spot in addition to the land plots, card packs and runis that you'll get more of than anyone else. All of that is in addition to the cards that you'll receive for your purchases. Perhaps the current leader made out better than I realized considering that they probably spent about half of what it would take to get that many points in the promotion now.

In any case, I hope that you're all enjoying this promotion. I think it's pretty exciting.

Peace
The latest town hall recap showed interesting development about the grain official market.
Thank you for your publication
I am in the leaderboard but far from the top 200. I like the Halving ability. It is really helpful.
Are you stocking grain or just selling on the p2p market?

I'm actually not a land owner, so I'm not selling or stacking grain. I play battles, buy the occasional card for my collection and mostly I've just been stacking SPS.

Super cool
Thank you for the reply
Have a great season
