Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Going the Distance)

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Going the Distance and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

Only units with ranged attacks may be used.

Consider including units with the Close Range and Return Fire abilities in your lineup.

The Going the Distance ruleset is a quite easy, but also difficult one. It easy, because the available monster pool is not that big and it is difficult, because the Ranged attack monsters are not particular good tanking the enemy team. The Close Range and Headwinds abilites are key in this battle, so it is important to pick these kind of monsters first. 😊

RulesetDescription
Explosive WeaponryAll Monsters have the Blast ability.
Going the DistanceOnly units with ranged attacks may be used.
Rise of the CommonsOnly Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.

The mana cap is 36, which is not that much, but in the Going the Distance ruleset you do not need a lot anyway. The most important factor to win this batlle will be the usage of the Blast damage from the Explosive Weaponry, so it is very important how to positionate the monsters.

The Rise of the Commons is another limiting factor for the available monster pool, because it will eliminate all the Epic and Legendary monsters. 😇

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Lux Vega

image.png

Lux Vega recently became one of my favorite Summoner, because she is a Neutral Summoner, which means that I will be able to use her with any kind of Splinter except the Dragon. She cost 6 mana and she gives +1 Armor, Speed and Health to all of her monsters, which is super strong. 💪

Main Tank
Gargoya Devil
image.png

The Gargoya Devil will be my main tank of this battle, because even though he has very low Health at least he has the Close Range ability, so he will be able to attack from the first position. 😁

The Martyr

Venari Marksrat
image.png

The Explosive Weaponry ruleset made me to use the Venari Marksrat, because he has the Martyr ability, which means that he will increase all the stats of the monsters adjacent to him when he dies. Thanks to the Blast damage he will die quicker than my tank, so he will be able to use his Martyr ability easily. 😉

Off-Tank and Damage Dealer
Queen of Crows
image.png

The main reason I picked the Death Splinter with Lux Vega is the Queen of Crows, because she has a lot of Health, which is nice, but also possess the Headwinds ability, so she will decrease all the Ranged attack damage of the enemy monsters by one as long as she is alive. 😌

Protector
Ravenhood Warden
image.png

The Ravenhood Warden is one of the new reward card, so it is quite easy to obtain him playing the game. He is a Death monster as well and finally the Death monsters are able to receive a monster who is able to protect them. Before his release there were no other monster to give +2 Armor to the Death monsters, so he is amazing. 🙏

Damage Dealer Silencer
Daigendark Hunter
image.png

The Daigendark Hunter has the Silence ability, which is useless here, but he has another important ability, which is Sneak with his +3 Ranged attack damage, so he will target the last monster from the enemy team, which is usually are the weakest. 😜

Low Budget Damage Dealer
Xenith Archer
image.png

I didn't have any more mana left, so I had to use the Xenith Archer. She is amazing if you have very little mana left, because she cost only 2 mana and has +2 Ranged attack damage, which is nice. The only thing is bad about her is her other stats, because she is quite weak, but if no one picks a mosnter with Sneak she will survive there long enough. 🤗

My opponent brought Tarsa for this battle, who is not the best choice, because she gives +1 Melee attack to her monsters, but at least she will be able to give the +1 Health to them. 😜

Thanks to Lux Vega and her Speed boost my team was a slightly quicker than the enemy team, so most of my monsters attacked their first, which is a huge advantage in a battle where their is Blast damage involved.

In the first round my monsters indirectly killed their Venari Marksrat who increased the stats of two of his monsters therefore I had to wait for another round to finally kill their tank. 😄

The second round was not the best for my team, because I have lost my Gargoya Devil and my team missed their tank three times in a raw, which was unbelievable. My opponent killed my Marksrat and at least he increased the stats of my Queen of Crows.

The third round was way better than the second, because my team finally were able to kill their last monster and only three heavily damaged monster left in their team, which was easy for my team to finish the battle and won it for me. 😇
