Overview

The new Weekly ruleset Challenge is an amazing twist that I am enjoying so far and I hope there will be twists like that in the future to keep this Challenge's fresh. 😁

This week the ruleset is the Going the Distance, which means that only units with ranged attacks may be used.

Consider including units with the Close Range and Return Fire abilities in your lineup.

The upcoming Battle ruleset

Ruleset	Description
Noxious Fumes	All Monsters start the battle Poisoned.
Going the Distance	Only units with ranged attacks may be used.
Fab Five	Up to Five units can be used.

The mana cap for my next battle was 55, which is a lot to choose whatever I want for this battle.
Probably I am not going to use all of that mana, because only the ranged attack monsters will allowed to play and the Fab Five ruleset will remove one monster slot from the lineup.

The most important ruleset, which need to be addressed in this battle will be the Noxious Fumes, because it means that all the monsters on the battlefield will be poisoned and will take two damage in every round unless I am able to use a monster with a Cleanse ability or use a monster with the Immunity ability, so they wouldn't take any damage from the Poison. 😊

My lineup


	Quix the Devious is almost the best choice for this battle, because his abilities are to decrease the ranged attack and health of all the enemy monsters on the battlefield. It is also a good point using him to have bigger monster pool from the Dragon Splinter. 😆
Berix Snakeye cost a lot of mana, which is 10, but in this battle that is not an issue, so I used him because he has a lot of armor and an average health, which is good to sustain as much as damage possible to give time to my monsters to do their job. 😊
	The Drybone Raider is an amazing monster for the Going the Distance ruleset, because he has two attack type, which is +1 for ranged and +2 for melee attack, so he will be able to use them from the first attack position. He also has the Double Strike ability as well, which makes him even more powerful. His only weakness is his low health, but at least he got some armor. 😇
The Venari Marksrat will be my key monster in this battle, because he has low health and he will die quickly against the Noxious Fumes ruleset. This would mean that he will be able to activate his Martyr ability, which will increase the stats of his adjacent monsters by one. 💪
	The Queen of Crows is a very important monster, because he has the Headwinds ability, so she will decrease the ranged attack of all the enemy monsters by one. She also be able to attack from the first postion in case shae have to, because she has the Close Range ability as well. Her high health would make sure that she will be able to sustain quite a lot of incoming damage. 😜
The Dhampir Stalker will be my main damage dealer in this battle, because originally he has +4 ranged attack, but against Quix this would be reduced to +3, which is still amazing. 😁

My opponent brought the Quix the Devious as well, because as I mentioned he is simply the best available option for this ruleset. I picked the Death Splinter for my main deck and he choosed the Fire, so it will be interesting to see who will prevail.

Overal my opponent had much bigger health pool on his monsters, but I picked a monster with the Headwinds ability, which means that she will reduce their ranged attack even further.

In the first round not much happened and both of our tanks were still alive, because we mutually reduced each other ranged attack damage, so not much left on the battlefield. 🤗

On the other hand the Poison damage took a serious hit on the monsters, because they evenly took two damage at the beginning of the second round.

In the second round both of our tanks died and luckily my team were able to kill their off tank as well in the same round. Unfortunately they managed to Stun my Drybone Raider, which was quite bad.

The Poison took out another monster from them in the third round and in the fourth round even his Lava Launcher died against it.

His Tinderlock left on his side of the battlefield and he activated his Last Stand ability, which helped him a bit, but luckily my Dhampir Stalker still had an attack left and hit him hard, which makes him to die at the end of the round. 😎

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy was to try to utilise as much as ranged attack debuff against the enemy team and that worked pretty well even thought my opponent monsters had much higher overal healths. 😌
