I've always been a social person, and am typically outgoing. There are elements of my social life that are divided into sections.
For example, my social life here on Hive is filled with people from around the world, who I have only met from being here. Many of the people I know IRL aren't on Hive - no matter how much I tell them to join - although, a few have, but as of yet, only one has remained kind of active.
@ecency-star released a prompt today asking us to talk about elements and the evolution of our social life.

Online
I've never really been big into social media, in general, or at least, I wasn't until I found Hive.
It just never really interested me at all, but it's great being here and especially when I first joined I had this feeling that I'd discovered something huge, that nobody else was privy to.
The idea of earning rewards amazed me initially, but the more I delved into the world of Hive, I soon realised that the rewards are nothing compared to the idea of actually owning your online content and identity. Nobody can take it away, or tamper with what we create, and that, especially these days, means something.
The only thing I think it's lacking is the fact that we can't easily navigate all of our old content, and find stuff we may have written months/ years ago.
I've tried typing in the name of particular pieces of content, but I'm not shown any relevant content. Even typing in user names is annoying, because you're given content written by others who perhaps tagged that particular user.
The search system needs an overhaul, and the ability to organise pieces of content into sub-folders would be amazing.
As someone who writes a lot of different articles, that ability would be much appreciated. Being able to categorise everything as, Fiction, world-building, Gaming, and General Blogs, for example, would be a great step in the right direction for Hive.
Gaming
During lockdown I actually had a great time, my partner and I didn't see each other for about 5 months, which was the longest we'd ever been apart. But, luckily, we both had Xbox, and for her birthday at the start of the lockdown, I bought her a TV and had it sent to her.
We completed so many games together, and during that time I re-connected with a bunch of my old Xbox friends who I had fallen out of contact with.
Together, we all spent most of the lockdown playing online and talking every day and it kept us all sane, as if the world wasn't falling apart right out the window.
I just had to find the most depressing picture of alcohol I could, so I can trick myself into thinking I don't like it.
Weekends
I'd gotten into a habit over the years, like many, where the only place to socialize and meet up with friends was in the pub on the weekend or for a cheeky mid-week drink.
After the pub, it was around to someone's house for an after-session, usually mine. Those nights were, and still are a lot of fun.
Nowadays though, I don't go out that often, and it's more of a once-a-month treat, as opposed to going out every weekend. It's a good way to socialise though and hang out with people, also alcohol acts as a great social lubricant to get the conversations going - not that I need any help to get talking.
With the baby, me and my partner are more likely to go for some lunch, meet people for a coffee, or go on a day out to do something, rather than going to the pub. To be fair, that kind of socialising is much better I think, and it's nice not losing a whole day to a bad hangover.
Kids can change your social life. That extra responsibility makes you think about it more, but I hope you can still have the odd night out. Hive has helped to make me more social and I've met lots of interesting people through it. I was hanging out with some just today and the conversations were intense. Hive folk are smart!
