Por eso esta vez les traigo el final de la unidad, donde el ejercicio número 8 es el que realizaremos hoy, aunque también les traigo el final de la semana pasada.

En este post les mostré lo que aprendí sobre expresiones, pequeñas líneas y cómo intercambiarlas. En el final, yo quise indagar un poco de “estilo propio” que aún no tengo, pero quise arriesgarme. La idea era generar como una fiesta o reunión, algo que junte a los distintos personajes.

In the end, I wanted to dig a little bit of "own style" that I don't have yet, but I wanted to take a risk. The idea was to generate a kind of party or reunion, something that brings together the different characters.
Aunque en mi caso están un poco cada uno en una cosa distinta, algunos sí están en situación o relacionándose. De esta manera pude identificar mejor las expresiones (tanto gestuales como corporales) que le daría a cada personaje. Uno está enojado, no sabemos por qué. Hay otros bailando, saludando, o bebiendo.

Although in my case each one is a little bit in a different thing, some of them are in a situation or relating to each other. This way I could better identify the expressions (both gestural and corporal) that I would give to each character. One is angry, we don't know why. There are others dancing, waving, or drinking.

I hope you like this end of the previous exercise, and a little bit of color I gave it, since I used watercolor pencils and then brushed a little bit to soften the strokes.

Para comenzar el ejercicio nuevo de hoy, tuvimos un comienzo teórico, donde entendemos cinematográficamente los distintos planos: primer plano, plano medio, plano americano, plano entero, plano general, y plano detalle. Cada uno de ellos explicado, desde lo que es el gesto, la expresión, la situación, el lugar, el gesto corporal, etc. Muchos detalles componen esta parte teórica y nos da inicio a la parte que sigue siendo experimental, donde crearemos una tira cómica.

To start today's new exercise, we had a theoretical beginning, where we understand cinematographically the different shots: close-up, medium shot, American shot, full shot, general shot, and detail shot. Each one of them explained, from what is the gesture, the expression, the situation, the place, the corporal gesture, etc. Many details make up this theoretical part and give us the beginning of the part that is still experimental, where we will create a comic strip.
Al comenzar, pareciendo tan difícil inventarse una historia, nos brinda el profesor una guía, haremos primero un primer plano, para entrar en situación, y continúa con un plano general, planos detalle, algún plano libre y un último primer plano que nos diga qué pasó. Este ejercicio fue resuelto respondiendo preguntas puntuales ¿Qué le pasa a mi personaje? ¿Dónde se encuentra? ¿Qué hace? ¿Qué sucede? ¿Cuál es su reacción?

At the beginning, as it seems so difficult to invent a story, the teacher gives us a guide, we will first make a close-up, to get into the situation, and continues with a general shot, detail shots, some free shot and a final close-up that tells us what happened. This exercise was solved by answering specific questions: What happens to my character? Where is he/she? What does he/she do? What happens? What is his/her reaction?
Por eso inventé un personaje, inspirada en lo que estuvo pasando en el verano en Argentina. Mosquitos, muchos mosquitos. Mi personaje se encuentra en un parque, o al menos en un lugar al aire libre. Si bien el profesor hace esto con otro ejemplo e historia, utiliza su regla de formas, haciendo círculos perfectos y teniendo claro lo que va a mostrar. Yo improvisé, liberando mi mano y solo buscando transmitir su fastidio.

So I invented a character, inspired by what was happening in the summer in Argentina. Mosquitoes, lots of mosquitoes. My character is in a park, or at least in an outdoor place. While the teacher does this with another example and story, he uses his rule of shapes, making perfect circles and being clear about what he is going to show. I improvised, freeing my hand and just looking to convey his annoyance.
Aunque algunos mosquitos parecen abejas y no supe dibujar mosquitos muriendo (en el cuarto cuadro) espero que se haya entendido. Su historia es clara, y es una escena real que me pasó, aunque el personaje es masculino. Salir al parque, fastidiarme por los mosquitos, usar repelente y que me terminen picando en la cara.

Although some mosquitoes look like bees and I didn't know how to draw mosquitoes dying (in the fourth frame) I hope it was understood. His story is clear, and it's a real scene that happened to me, although the character is male. Going out to the park, getting annoyed by mosquitoes, using repellent and ending up getting bitten in the face.
La tristeza final del personaje me pareció clave. Entender que aunque haya hecho todo lo posible, se frustre. La naturaleza es la que es, y este verano que pasó fue extremo en calidad de mosquitos (y también de Dengue, por eso hay que tener tanto cuidado)

The final sadness of the character seemed key to me. Understanding that even though he's done everything he can, he gets frustrated. Nature is what it is, and this summer was extreme in terms of mosquitoes (and also Dengue, that's why you have to be so careful).
