Gotta Keep Em' All 👹🥊
I was scouring Xbox Game Pass recently and stumbled upon an indie game that seemed to be a 2D platformer Pokemon-style game. The idea sounded pretty cool, so then began my quick download for a title called Monster Sanctuary.
Monster Sanctuary is a unique blend of action-adventure and monster-collecting genres, developed by Moi Rai Games and published by Team17. Released in 2020, the game invites players to embark on an epic journey through the Monster Sanctuary, a magical world where humans and monsters coexist. As a Monster Keeper, players must explore diverse environments, battle powerful foes, and form bonds with a wide variety of monsters to build their ultimate team. With its pixel-art visuals, engaging combat system, and deep Metroidvania-inspired exploration, Monster Sanctuary offers a fresh and captivating experience for fans of both action-adventure and monster-collecting games.
Central to Monster Sanctuary is its engaging combat system, which combines turn-based strategy with real-time elements to create dynamic and challenging battles. You start this game by selecting a starter monster, much like Pokemon. If you're into the monster-collecting games, you'll probably like this a lot. I used to love those types of games, but I've found myself growing out of that genre the older I get. It's just too tedious of a gameplay loop for me. That doesn't mean Monster Sanctuary is a bad game. If you're wondering whether or not it is a good game though, you'll have to watch my gameplay video down below.
