Gandhi as Civ 6 Leader

Nuclear weaponry is the future! How can you not see that?

Rumor has it, Gandhi loves nuking other civilizations. The thing is, Gandhi believed in something called Satyagraha. So, it’s sort of ironic when in the game, he approved the idea of nuclear weaponry. In fact, even when against powerful AI civilizations such as Germany & England, Gandhi still has a higher chance to use Nuke. How do I know that? I’ve been playing the game for almost 3 weeks now and have tried multiple moves. In the end, all that road leads to “happy nukes”.

The game configuration

Screenshot 2024-04-24 225206.png

In this game, I am playing with “prince” difficulty and using the true location on earth. I am playing against AI from 7 different civilizations. Each civilization possesses its own challenge but there’s a catch, Gandhi is actually a nice civilization to start. The place is only surrounded by city-states and they are less likely to attack until the game advances. So, it is one of the perks of choosing Gandhi as the leader in this game configuration.

Best Opening For Gandhi

Another perk is that if you choose Gandhi as your leader, in this configuration, the starting place is a piece of land with plentiful resources. It has silk, mine areas, as well as fertile land suitable for housing within 5 tiles. There are also a few early-in-game resources that can be found in the continent. If you choose to play as Gandhi, the first few steps are also focusing on the exploration.

Above is the example of opening that you shouldn't do.

Since I have tried a lot of configuration, I think this was the best opening. I started with scouts because we get 1 free warrior. Then slinger for clearing out barbarian posts nearby and then builder to increase production output. Then, settlers claim more lands nearby that are best for harbor and the first city to build encampment.

  • scout
  • slinger
  • builder
  • settler

Then, another hack would be moving to the right side where the Hong Kong city states are located because that would give extra advantage since sending diplomats to hongkong would give extra production outputs.

What to research?

Screenshot 2024-04-29 171204.png

After configuring your unit another part would be configuring your research. There are some ways to do that but make sure you read properly each of the research and how it will unlock a certain building or unit. Some research can be done later on, for example playing as Gandhi, it is best to ignore any naval unit and focus on the cavalry unit. They travel fast and Gandhi is also known to have the advantage of a unit called varu, which is a spearman sitting on top of an elephant. As you progress towards the game, and into the industrialization era, it is best to ignore ancient units and replace them with newer ones.

What victory to aim for?

While playing as Gandhi is known for its religious leaning victory, depending on how the opening would be, the research and the buildings that you might build, you can also aim for another victory. However, if Germany is on the map, it is almost impossible to win science victory. Therefore, it is best to focus on either religion, domination or cultural victory. For example, in this game, I won over cultural victory rather than the other victory types.

What other tips do you have?

Another tip that I have is if you’re still new to playing this, make sure to hover over the city and click the round button showing every production that the city makes. Make sure to optimize as needed and that also speeds up the advancement of the city.

My personal choice when playing gandhi is choosing border expansion and also religion that can produce gold along the way.

I would also sparsely buy traders unless needed. But if you have way too much money to spend, you can buy a trader to make even more money.

I would also not be perfectionist with the game. I think it is best to just play along but again, if I wasn’t playing it for 3 weeks, starting and restarting, I would not have these conclusions.

Anyway, that’s all for today.See you in the coming weeks with a new set of civ 6 leaders!

I have always been attracted to this video game, but I know that it is very complicated, you also have to have a lot of patience to understand each of the processes that must be done to take a civilization forward.

It's not that complicated. It looks pretty daunting at first but once you get the hang of it, the game looks very easy to play. It's like a journey itself where you learn tiny bits after playing the game.

This game has a twisted sense of humour 😄 It's great that you have a variety of scenarios to explore.

hahaha yeah! the leader is strikingly similar to historical figure with their own twisted humor. It's probably why I love playing it and imagined what could have been if a mad leader built the civilization haha

I can't wait to see what happens when they integrate AI into these games. There will be some mad scenarios. 😄

This is interesting. Do they have more leaders for the same civilization focusing around India? Gandhi has to be one of the worst though imho.

Btw, 'Satyagraha' is just a fancy name for peaceful protest that he started against the colonial British.

Good choice to go for "culture". Cool game!

In another expansion pack, it has Chandragupta but those expansion pack can be pricey😃. As for Gandhi, he has been in the game since the first version of it way back from 1991 and that's where the nuclear urban legend comes from.

'Satyagraha'

I know, it's shorter than having to explain how it all started and what it actually means 😄

Chandragupta was a true hero. He should be a lot more powerful than Gandhi.

1991!? That's older than me...lol

I know, it's shorter than having to explain how it all started and what it actually means

hehe... I do that a lot of time too.

It is very cool that the developers have made the nuclear Gandhi canonical, I understand that old deliveries for a programming issue had made this character could never opt for that option but by giving a negative value in the program did the opposite was the character with more possibility of opting for the nuclear path and I find it very ironic and funny.

I think with the whole thing, Gandhi was hands down an interesting game to play. Some websites said Gandhi was the worst leader to play but my experience spoke otherwise.

The content makes my day. I thoroughly read it, and I laughed since Gandhi and the game was related.😅 @macchiata

hahaha yeah, well Gandhi is the "character" in the game.

Yeah.. It was the first time to knew about the game too. Hehehe @macchiata
