The Process Carried Out by Farmers to Raise Rice🌾

in HiveGarden3 months ago

Hello gardening friends. How are you today? I hope you are always in good health wherever you are. What are your activities today ? Oh yes, I want to wish my friends who are on holiday a happy weekend. Stay safe and stay healthy.

What is your staple food? Rice? Sweet potato? or potatoes? Of course, it is no longer a secret that Asian people's staple food is rice. It doesn't feel complete if you eat something without rice.

But, before friends eat rice. Do you know what trees are like? how to plant it and how to harvest it? Today I want to share with friends how farmers plant rice which is still done manually or using human power.

Yep, planting activities where I live still use human power. I will share a few portraits of farmers planting rice.

Sowing rice
The first step taken by farmers is to sow rice seeds on land that is not exposed to a lot of water or tends to dry out.

After 20-25 days the rice seedlings are ready to be removed. So, I will immediately share the moment the farmer uprooted the rice seedlings.

Usually the activity of uprooting rice is carried out when the land to be planted with rice or rice fields is ready to be planted, or more precisely, has been jetted.

Farmers remove rice seedlings, then tie them up. This is done until the rice seeds run out. After the rice seeds have been removed, they are then handed over to the planter. Well, usually those who plant rice will be paid when the work is finished.

Later the rice seeds will be planted in the fields.

You didn't see wrongly, many of the workers who plant rice are women. In the planting process, we call it tandur (planting backwards). still using traditional methods that farmers use to grow their rice.

when planting rice

After many processes are carried out by farmers in planting rice, starting from sowing seeds, planting rice, caring for rice (fertilizing and protecting rice from weeds that grow around rice trees). After 90-95 days the rice is ready to be harvested.

So, I will also share the moment when farmer workers harvest rice which will later become rice and will become the rice that we will later eat.

First, the worker will take the yellow rice and manually use a machete. Then gathered in one large place. Once all the rice is ready, the worker will sickle it. The rice and rice stalks were separated using a tool designed by the worker (sorry, I forgot the name of the tool).

After the rice fruit was separated from the tree, the workers rushed to collect the rice in burlap until it was full and then lifted it to the rice collector.

Well, many farmers want to keep it simple, they will sell all their rice to collectors and will later be paid according to what has been agreed. However, there are also farmers who bring some rice to be processed manually which will later be made into rice.

In the process of farmers bringing the rice home, usually before it is milled to the rice mill. Farmers will dry rice on large areas of land so that the rice becomes dry and easy to grind. This drying process is carried out several times depending on the heat of the sun. If the sun is very hot, the process of drying the rice will only take up to 7 times, but if the sun displays less heat then the process of drying the rice will take longer.

After going through several long processes, the rice will be ready to be milled and will later become rice. Usually, rice grown directly by farmers has a fluffier and softer texture compared to rice bought at the market or stall. And I really like rice that has just been harvested by farmers.

I'm sorry because there are many moments that I can't share, and I only tell them to my friends.
