Foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats are especially important for athletes as they provide essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

To avoid excessive weight and physiological inflammation, athletes should avoid processed foods high in refined sugar and saturated fats. Additionally, excessive consumption of fried foods, fast food and sugary drinks can harm athletic performance and contribute to chronic inflammation in the body.
