Lofoten - cod drying to become stockfish

This is my entry for #monomad challenge by @monochromes.

Hello to all!

Today I'll show you some pictures about the cod drying, to obtain stockfish, a delicious speciality of these islands.
In spring you can find hundreds of cods hung on wood structures, along the rocky shores of almost every town. In may stockfish will be ready.
During my visit the fishes were still losing liquid; it was snowing, so I didn't notice this drip on my clothes, but after some minutes my jacket has a very bad smell.

The part of the cod that has a bad smell is the head, not the body. They use to hang cods with head because of also head is good to eat, and less expensive of the body.

There were a lot of seagull in every town, but no birds were eating the fish. In Norway people have a great sense of civilization, and nobody stoles anything. You can leave open the house, the car, and no one allows himself to take things that are not his own. I love Norway also for the peace and the trust they have for others people, and maybe also seagulls know this rule, and they don't touch the fish ;-).

I buy these dried codfish in our local market without even knowing that this is how they are prepared 🙈

I'm loving the way these fishes are hanged with a specific sophisticated way. Indeed they must be delicious in taste 😋

Very good taste, but I prefer salmons!

Here they wont last 10 minutes until someone steal them all 😂

Also in Italy where I live.

It seem like there are plenty of fishes in Norway. I love stock fish a lot and I can’t go a week without eating it

There is a lot of fishes in Norway, a lot! They have oil, hydrocarbons, wood and a lot of fishes, I think it is one of the richest country in the world.

Norway is indeed a wonderful place, where one's safety is guaranteed. Seems so good. This codfish or stockfish as it's popularly known in my region is a great accompaniment of many delicious meals 😋
I loved learning how it's prepared, from your post.

Yes, Norway is a wonderful place to live. About stockfish, it is a bit complex to cook it, you should rehydrate it and boil it. I have tried a dish more simple to cook: pasta with cream and salmons
