Hi hivernautas. Today in #monomad challange I share with you other photos of my trip last week to Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus province, Cuba.
Visitar la ciudad de Trinidad es como dar un viaje en el tiempo. La ciudad se ha mantenido por 500 años en su estado arquitectónico original y con un nivel de conservación increible. Pero para ser sincera, hay otras ciudades de Cuba con ese aire colonial de dos siglos atrás.
Visiting the city of Trinidad is like taking a trip back in time. The city has been maintained for 500 years in its original architectural state and with an incredible level of conservation. But to be honest, there are other cities in Cuba with that colonial air.
Lo que sí no he podido encontrar en ningún otro lugar son las condiciones de las calles. No son adoquines como en Camaguey o en Santiago, son verdaderas piedras venidas como lastre en los buques españoles del viejo mundo. Hoy para reparar las 26 calles que enlazan los barrios, necesitan sacarlas de los ríos de la región. Y lo más interesante: brillan al Sol! Saben cómo las llaman? "Chinas pelonas". Desde el primer día que puse un pié allí, me obsecioné recogiendo cuanto pedazo de piedra encontraba en la calle y decoré más de un rincón en mi casa. En este viaje que mi hijo fue por primera vez, pues regresó con sus trofeos de piedra también.
What I have not been able to find in any other place are the conditions of the streets. They are not cobblestones like in Camaguey or Santiago, they are real stones that came as ballast in the Spanish ships of the old world. Today, to repair the 26 streets that link the neighborhoods, they need to take them out of the rivers of the region. And the most interesting thing: they shine in the sun! You know what they call them? "Chinas pelonas" (Bold Chinese). From the first day I set foot there, I became obsessed with collecting every piece of stone I found in the street and decorated more than one corner of my house with them. On this trip that my son went for the first time, he came back with his Stones trophies.
Y otra particularidad de Trinidad: el calor! Dios mío...qué calor! Las montañas hacen de cortavientos y no permiten que el aire caliente que viene del mar circule fuera y el día puede superar los 38 grados. Así que hay que visitar Trinidad bajo tu propio riesgo si no estás acostumbrado al trópico.
Something else is the heat! OMG! So hot!Trinidad is inside a mountains windshield, so the Hot air comming from the ocean can't escape. Regular day you can suffer 38 degrees. So visiting is on your own risk if you are not a tropical weather fan.
