There's a lot of enchanting events in these streets; even my usual abstraction doesn't manage to keep me oblivious to it all. Memories, stories and even ‘corner tales’ invented by the locals or my quite creative and delirious head.... ;)
Hay un montón de eventos encantadores en estas calles; ni siquiera mi acostumbrada abstracción logra mantenerme ajeno a todo esto. Los recuerdos, las historias e incluso "cuentos de esquina" inventados por las personas del pueblo o mi ya bastante creativa y delirante cabeza... ;)
"Nikol" / "Nikol"
Nikol is a little girl with lovely eyes and a lovely smile, she lives a couple of streets away from my house. The day I took this portrait, she came out on her doorstep and said ‘My mum will give me a cat’... Nikol is an angel who can make anyone's day"....
Nikol es una niña de ojos y sonrisa encantadora que vive a un par de calles de mi casa. El día que le hice este retrato, ella salió al umbral de su casa y dijo "Mi Mamá me regalará un gato"... ¡Nikol es un ángel capaz de alegar el día a cualquiera"...
"Diego" / "Diego"
Diego ruminates in the street floor, his luck... 'Time passes slowly and life is getting long for him' At least that's what he says most of the time. From what I hear, his doctors said he would pass away many years ago. However, that is something that, as you can see, has not happened... This really is a town with crazy stories.
Diego rumia en el piso de su calle, su suerte... EL tiempo pasa lentamente y la vida se le hace larga, eso cuando menos es lo que él suele decir casi todo el tiempo. Según escuché, sus médicos dijeron que fallecería hace muchos años atrás. Sin embargo, eso es algo que, como pueden observar, no ha sucedido... Realmente este es un pueblo con historias locas.
"Again Darío" / "Otra vez Darío"
As I have previously told in other publications, Dario is my close relative and father who was my friend and cousin affectionately called ‘Chipi’ who died a little over a decade ago unexpectedly. Dario has never been the same since. It seems to me that I never saw joy in his eyes again.
Como conté previamente en otras públicaciones, Darío es mi pariente cercano y es el padre quien fue mi amigo y primo llamado por todos cariñosamente "Chipi" quien murió hace poco más de una década de forma inesperada. Darío nunca volvió a ser el mismo desde entonces. A mi me parece que nunca más volví a ver alegría en su mirada.

On the town's borders, life goes ‘even slower’ than usual. There is not much to do around here, the local economy has contracted dramatically in recent years. So it is common to observe people just ‘passing the time’...
En las margenes del pueblo la vida transcurre "aún más lentamente" de lo acostumbrado. No hay mucho para hacer por aquí, la economía local se ha contraído de forma dramática en años recientes. Así que es común observar a las personas simplemente "dejando pasar el tiempo"...
"Aulio is no longer with us" / "Aulio ya no está"
Aulio, an elderly teacher known to everyone in our village, passed away a couple of weeks ago. However, his relatives continue to place his old wheelchair in the same place where Aulio liked to be watching the street in front of his house...
Aulio, un anciano profesor conocido por todos en nuestro pueblo, falleció hace un par de semanas. Sin embargo, sus familiares siguen colocando su vieja silla de ruedas en el mismo lugar en el cual a Aulio le gustaba estar observando la calle en frente de su casa...
"Silent Bernardo" / "Bernardo el silencioso"
When I was young, Bernardo used to take photos of people and take them to be developed in the photographic laboratories of Valencia, the capital city of our state and where the nearest laboratories were... However, with the advent of digital cameras, Bernardo stopped doing this work and dedicated to other things... Something interesting about Bernardo is that he speaks very little and prefers to communicate by sign language, although he does not suffer from any kind of speech problems or anything of the sort.
Cuando yo era joven, Bernardo solía hacer fotos a las personas y llevarlas a revelar en los laboratorios fotográficos de Valencia, la ciudad capital de nuestro estado y en donde estaban los laboratorios más cercanos... Sin embargo, con la llegada de las cámaras digitales, Bernardo dejó de hacer este trabajo y se dedicó a otras cosas... Algo interesante acerca de Bernardo es que habla muy poco y prefiere comunicarse por señas, aunque no sufre ningún tipo de problemas del habla ni nada por el estilo.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
