Title: BW - Chrysolina sanguinolenta
Chrysolina sanguinolenta belongs to leaf beetles that are native to Europe. That's the only information about this beetle that is available on the Wikipedia.
It is quite common in this area. I find it regularly in my yard from spring until fall. Leaf beetles feed on different plant tissues. In agriculture some of them are considered as pests while other are beneficial as they eat invasive weeds.
This particular species are completely black with red stripe around wings. Their body length is up to 1 cm. Although they are fliers, they can most often be seen walking on the ground or on the plants they feed on.
