Alaska Highway

in GEMS15 days ago (edited)

A couple of days ago I published the first three stamps in the Canadian Centennial definitive series. 1967 marked Canada’s 100th birthday, so naturally, Canada post released stamps to commemorate the occasion. Seven different artist’s paintings were chosen. They are known as the ”group of seven”. This 8 cent stamp was painted by A.Y. Jackson, sometime in 1943. A painting of the “Alaska Highway”, on its way from the Yukon. Yes the Yukon, ever been there? I have, a few years back. The 10 cent stamp is called “Jack Pine”, the 15 cent is “Bylot Island”. An island that is part of the Nunavut collective area, and is actually somewhat close to Greenland. Yes, Canada is a huge place! The 20 cent is called “The Ferry, Quebec”. Somewhere around the St Lawrence river. Which is your favourite?

They are all pretty nice, I like them all, very artistic and a cool collection. Have a great day my friend.

Next best thing to aviation stamps!

Judging by design, 15c was my fave; tho among B-W versions, 20c looks more promising to me.

I have been to Yukon many times... in my teen years... while reading Jack London's novels.

Cool. Reading takes us anywhere around the world, without having to leave your house.

What beautiful stamps. You can really tell the age by the way they were designed. They all look centered nicely too, I'm learning something about stamps from your posts! Keep sharing more of these, I find them really interesting!

Appreciate that. Most things made in the 60’s seem to have more value than things made nowadays.

Cool... I like this ideas , and that they are black and white too 😋👌👌👌☕

Stamps are perfect for black and white, I think.

YEs ... you are right .

These are in such amazing condition! One of the hardest things to keep in good shape IMO. Great color and design choice on these stamps. They just don't make cool ones like they use to.

All the new ones are permanent pricing and just not quite the same as the “older” ones.

I'm really loving seeing black and white postage stamps!.... :))
