Good day friends, yesterday, when I was busy at work, my sister suddenly chatted me to inform that my goat has given birth to two tall full black kids. Almighty God is so good to my family!
Kid is what we call to baby goats less than a year. It is really adorable when a kid is born. y just about 10 minutes, they can already stand on their own. Then they quickly sniff out and look for their mom for the breast feed. They cannot see yet because their eyes are still covered with some kind of slimy coat for protection of light. At about 2 hours, they can stand and walk firm and feel the breeze around which makes their hair stand and their ear and tail move into reaction. Because of their feeling of having their mom beside them, their tail wiggles and their nose moves and mouth smiles a little. When a kid is about less than a week, its sole is soft and cannot be used to stump the ground but they can happily jump around. It is hard not to fall in love with their playful, curious and energetic nature especially the male one. Kids do not sound like “meeee” instead they shout “baaaa”.
A mother goat even after birth does not lose much of its stomach size. Only after 3 to 4 weeks old of its kid since by that age the kids are strong enough to suck milk rapidly and repeatedly. By 2 months old, kids already have strong teeth and are able to imitate their mother to what she eats and acts. Kids will often follow their mothers to learn important skills, like climbing, back-scratching against a bark or net, communicate or respond with me as their owner, and most important of all – the instinct.
Not only kids but all goats are required for regular deworming. At least once per year to maintain healthy digestion and immunity of the goats. Deworming tablets cost 10 php per tab only and has long expiry date. They need access to fresh water, good forage, and shelter and fence from dogs, snakes and lizards. Handling kids requires gentle care, as they can be easily injured or frightened. It requires effort to handle kids carefully and securely to help them develop trust and confidence.
Overall, kids are an absolute delight to watch and care for. Their playful nature, curious minds, and affectionate personalities make them a joy to be around. I thank God for these two . I will not sell them for sure unless necessary.
