Garden Update: Our Wild Chili (Labuyo) Found Its Friends <3

in Agricultural Mindset11 months ago

I was so happy to find new wild chili growing from our wild chili plant a few days ago. This wild chili plant (siling labuyo) was among the first seeds we planted when we started our garden. It has borne some flowers a month after, but it took a couple more months for it to bear the wild chili itself.

That time, this tiny chili showed up. Only this one, but you may also notice some white flowers budding and growing on the same plant. It looked lonely, though. xDD

However, you need not worry because two weeks after that, new wild chilis grew.

Can you spot them?? The big one at the back is an okra, though. They look kind of similar in shape and color, but the size is different. Let me show some closer shots of the wild chilis.

Here's one of the new ones...

And here are the other two. :)
There are more flower buds, so hopefully more wild chilis would grow.

I'd really love to use these wild chilis as an ingredient for Bicol Express. It's a spicy pork dish cooked in coconut milk and chilis. This would be perfect. <3

So much for wild chili, here's a bonus picture of another type of chili/pepper. Our bell peppers are growing pretty well, too. We have around four or five bell pepper plants, so hopefully, the others would also bear some bell pepper fruit.

I actually have a bunch of seeds to plant and seedlings to replant, but we don't have enough pots and good soil, yet. Hopefully, papa would buy some pots soon. I'm extra excited because I bought some cucumber and bitter gourd seeds last time. The plant preparation would be extra complicated because they're vine plants, but we'll make it work somehow. :)

Anyway, I'll end this post here. Thanks a bunch for checking it out and see you next time! <3
