Reconfiguring My Hive Goals to Include a Savings Plan!

In that ongoing saga of realizing that I will need to buy a new computer soonish — that would be within about 18 months or so — I decided it would be prudent for me to modify my Hive goals to include a "Savings Plan."

I am going to need about 1,000 USD for a new computer, and it would certainly be nice to not have to put all of that on a credit card and pay 30% interest!

The good news is that I am going to give myself 18 months before reaching a "crisis point," so I have a little time. The second good news is that we have HBD savings here on Hive, and it pays that nifty 20% interest, at least for the time being. So anything I set aside will effectively be working for me!

Inadvertently, this news is also giving me a nice objective reason to become more regular with my blogging.

My original Hive goals post was fairly modest... but at the time of making it, it wasn't expecting to be buying a new computer.

Seems fitting, somehow, to be saving up on Hive, since a large part of what I use a computer for is, precisely, blogging!

So my original goal for this year was to have 200 HBD in savings by the end of 2024. I'm going to up that to 300 HBD by the end of 2024, and then I'm hoping to get to 1,000 HBD by the 2025 Christmas Holidays. Maybe I'll use the January 2026 sales to buy the computer!

That's going to require a lot of blogging, but if I work diligently, and work on engagement and building a following, I'm hopeful it will fall within the realm of reality. Or not. I'm thinking I'll likely have to supplement with other crypto brought in from other ventures, elsewhere.

I suppose it doesn't really matter where is comes from, as long as the savings keep building!

So, I'm also thinking of joining the rather popular #saturdaysavers initiative. I already own some EDS tokens, and it is one of my secondary goals to build up that balance, as well. I'm upping my 2024 goal to have 100 EDS tokens by the end of 2024, and 250 EDS tokens by the end of 2025.

Cat on the move!

On a personal level, it helps me a lot to have structure with things I do. If left to do things too much on my own I just end up doing what all good cats do: Take a lot of naps, and otherwise get relatively little done!

Not changing any of my other 2024 goals, but I realized I am getting a little "slack" because I am no longer pursuing DHEDGE and DVS which — sadly — announced the end of the road a few weeks back.

You win some, and you lose some... that's just the nature of crypto, I fear.

Thanks for coming to visit, and do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Yup! I also need a new laptop next year. Mins is about eighth years old!
Trying to save up but it’s quite impossible at the moment

Using Hive/HBD as the savings vehicle helps a little, because it is harder to get to than money in the bank!

You should totally join the Saturday Savers Club! I've been doing it for a few years now. Just be sure to let @shanibeer know your goals so she can put you on the savers chart, in the latest @eddie-earner post. :)
