Why The School Subjects Are Indispensable

Why are certain topics emphasized in school? It was a constant thought of mine during my time as a student. We are required to study specific subjects, memorize particular theories while disregarding others, and read literature from specific times and authors. However, all of these contribute to our education and shaping us into the individuals we are today. From mathematics to literature, each subject helps us understand the world around us. I vividly remember being eager to learn when I first entered the classroom as a young child. Of course, every student is unique and not everyone shares the same passion for learning new things or may not be curious in their first year of schooling. This is because we are still growing and developing as human beings, still trying to grasp an understanding of the world we live in. Every new aspect is captivating to us, especially with new technology, games, toys or making friends - it becomes a distraction from learning. Looking back, we can observe a difference between generations and entities. The older generation who did not experience the technology boom tend to be more knowledgeable about the world and can offer valuable insights for our lives. We all learn from others, but we choose what we want to learn from them, whether to accept and use the lesson. Like school. But how does all this shape us as people?

The classroom is not simply a physical space where students gather to learn, it is a dynamic environment that plays a crucial role in shaping an individual's academic, social, and personal development. Each classroom has its own unique purpose and serves as a key component in the overall educational experience for students. Understanding the importance of each classroom is essential for recognizing the true value of our school subjects. It would be interesting for me to explore some of the topics that I think are very important in school.

Math is a subject that often causes fear and anxiety in students, but it is also one of the most crucial subjects for developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The purpose of teaching math goes far beyond numbers and equations; it is about cultivating essential skills that are necessary for success in both academics and everyday life.

At its core, math is all about solving problems. From simple addition and subtraction to complex calculus, every concept in math revolves around finding solutions to different types of problems. This constant problem-solving practice trains the brain to think critically and approach challenges from various perspectives.

As students progress through their math education, they encounter increasingly challenging problems that require them to apply their knowledge creatively. They learn how to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable parts, analyze information, identify patterns, and use logical reasoning to find the best solution. These skills are not only valuable when working on math-related tasks but are transferable across all subject areas and real-life situations.

Studying math enhances analytical skills. Students who excel in this subject have a strong ability to think logically and make connections between different concepts or ideas. This skill is particularly useful when it comes to tackling abstract concepts or making decisions based on data analysis or critical thinking.

Critical thinking involves asking questions and evaluating information carefully before arriving at a conclusion. In mathematics, students learn not only how to solve problems but also how to justify their answers using mathematical reasoning. This helps them develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts while honing their ability to think critically.

English/Language Arts is a crucial subject that is taught in schools around the world. It encompasses various aspects of language, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This subject plays an essential role in shaping individuals' ability to communicate effectively and also helps them appreciate literature.

Effective communication is one of the most vital life skills that everyone should possess. In today's fast-paced world, being able to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly is crucial for success in both personal and professional life. This class focuses on developing students' communication skills by teaching them how to express themselves using written and verbal forms of language.

Through activities such as debates, group discussions, and presentations, students are encouraged to think critically and present their opinions confidently. These exercises not only improve their oral communication but also enhance their critical thinking abilities. They learn how to analyze information from different sources and form their perspective on various topics.

But also teaches students the importance of effective writing skills. Writing is a fundamental aspect of communication that allows us to express our thoughts in a structured manner. This subject provides students with opportunities to explore different genres of writing such as narratives, descriptive essays, persuasive pieces, and more. By learning these various forms of writing, students can develop their own unique style while also improving their grammar and vocabulary and through studying different literary works from different time periods and cultures, students gain a deeper understanding of humanity's diverse experiences.

Science is a subject that sparks curiosity and deepens our understanding of the natural world. It encompasses various fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences, each with its own unique contribution to our understanding of the world around us. As a student, I was always fascinated by science and the wonders it unraveled.

The primary goal of science education is to promote critical thinking skills and develop scientific literacy among students. Through hands-on experiments, observations, and analysis, students are encouraged to question the world around them and seek evidence-based explanations for various phenomena. This cultivates a sense of curiosity towards the natural world that goes beyond memorization and textbook knowledge.

And teaches students how to think critically and logically. In today's advancing society where information is readily available at our fingertips, it has become more crucial than ever for individuals to be able to evaluate sources critically and make informed decisions. Science equips students with these essential skills by teaching them how to design experiments, collect data, interpret results, and draw conclusions based on evidence.

Science plays also a significant role in shaping global citizens who understand their impact on the environment. Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and through studying science subjects such as earth sciences and environmental studies, students can learn about its causes, consequences, and potential solutions. This instills a sense of responsibility in them towards protecting our planet for future generations. However, each country has different training methods and classes, but that is a topic for another day.

Let our children not grow up in a terrible world. Together we can make it better. It is our destiny to
suffer from the past, to long for the future, but to forget the present.

You just made me developed instant love for mathematics through this post. I am seeing it in a different way entirely right now.

The truth is every subject has their relevance and the world can not do without them. But an individual can study all of them, it will weigh the person down, this is why everyone looks for the area which they are good at and focuses there.

Thanks for sharing this with us.. I love your post

Thanks, for the nice comment. Yes, it is, but one should not focus, only in one topic, every thing sooner or later, plays some role in our lives. One should have some initial knowledge, at least for general culture.

Hehe, that's right. I understand your point

A lot goes into teaching children and we have to be willing to do what it takes. This is not just left to parents, but also to society and the government as well. It's a collective responsibility.

Hello @darthsauron
We've noticed that your engagement with other authors is poor, and that's not encouraging at all. You need to make comments on the post of others and also reply to comments on your posts as well. This is to foster growth within the community.

I was never a good English student, I loved maths because you never see the formulas changing like English but I support the fact that our teachers play a great role in our learning faculties. From #dreemport
